Peculiarly unemotional children.

If a kid finds their dead grandmother ... I don't really care HOW old they are, they're going to be upset. Not one of those kids did anything more than scream for a second. THEY FOUND A BODY. THE BODY OF THEIR GRANDMOTHER. Let me clarify - their MURDERED grandmother (that was my interpretation anyway, it seemed like something rushed up to her). Two seconds later, they're back to being clueless and playing in the dirt. What? They aren't scared? Sad? Curious, even? Nothing about their caretaker leaving to buy rolls and never coming back seems unusual? The odd behavior of their uncle and Grandmother? Her DEATH? The fact that the television has been out for a few days? I don't get it. At least one of those kids is a teenager. When I was a teenager, I'm pretty sure that I'd notice something odd about my Uncle A-Hole brandishing a shotgun and some creepy, unknown "friend" of my father's just randomly showing up & parking himself in a chair in the driveway.

Anyways, very pretty film with good acting and subtle but noticeable color, but I guess I set my expectations too high. Netflix described it as "thought-provoking drama" but I'm going to have to disagree. It started out as an interesting take on the end of the world (nothing flashy like most apocalyptic films), and ended up being an oddball cat-and-mouse crime drama.

They're coming to get you, Barbara!
