What happened? Did they cut the budget?

Sorry, I love Shaun but the latest series is nowhere near the original quality. The stories are still good but the animation is less subtle, the pace is too fast and as for those dreadful changes to the farmer and Bitzer with the bizarre plastic bodies that look like alien skull caps...! What's that for? Sadly, probably to save money. Did they think we wouldn't notice?

Sad face :( I want my Shaun back.

Don't agree with you. I bought 2 copies of the complete First Series - one for my Grandchildren and one for me! Over Christmas I recorded practically all of the new Second Series from BBC HD (pending DVD release I can Purchase) and my Grandchildren and I definately feel that this Series is even funnier than the first one!
Everything is just perfect and hilarious - one of the best bits is in "Double Trouble" and the old Marx Brothers gag with the "Mirror"
Glad they tidied up the cat too. There's also many new characters to enjoy.

That's fine, we all have different tastes. I prefer the simplicity of the original.

However, I would still argue that the animation looks more cheap now, even if the comedy and characters are still going strong.

I agree regarding the cosmetic changes. Sadly, though, the Aardman form of clay animation takes a LONG time to film just one scene. I imagine, by switching bodies, it makes things work a lot faster and that means episodes can come out a lot faster.

I thought all of the changes, including the sets happened due to the fire in the studio?
