here's what I think *SPOILERS*

This movie was horrible. And am I the only one who thought that it was like they were putting 4 movies into one?

1. Obviously, chasing the storms is one of the plots.

2. The relationship between the mother and the daughter.

3. The random weather man turning out to be the daughter's father.

4. The daughter's pshyco boyfriend.

It was like watching 4 pathetic Lifetime movies at the same time!
Oh, and the people were so stupid in the movie! I swear, I saw 3 people in the movie just stand and stare when the tornado came. I mean, yes, I understand the lady who was filming it watching the tornado, but the guy in his garage? He was just standing there, watching the houses get blown away! You know, normal people usually want to take cover if a tornado is going through the neighborhood!

So to all of those people who haven't seen this movie....don't even waste your time.

That multiple plot thing really bothered me. If you're going to make a tornado movie, make a tornado movie! They threw in as many dramatic subplots as they possibly could. Don't forget the relationship between the main character and her brother, so terribly strained by their traumatic childhood. *tear*

This movie is not quite as bad as Tornado! but worse than Atomic Twister.

When you're rooting for the stupid teenage daughter who runs off with her loony boyfriend to get stomped by the tornado, you know it's a bad film. Seriously, if you've raised that big of an idiot, it's time to step back and let natural selection take a hand.

I completely agree with you about the characters' lack of reaction (not least that the winds would be intense fairly distant from the funnel) killing any suspense. I know Twister took liberties with some of the meteorology, too, but at least the actors in it did a good job of acting scared of the tornadoes, which made it a lot scarier and more believable than this trashy flick. And the CGI for Twister has still held up after some fifteen years. This flick was made just this year and it still looked cheesy.

Such a shame, as I usually quite like tornado flicks and Andrew Airlie.
