This is going to be bad...

I know, I know. This hasn't been shown yet on television. But by reading the synopsis, it's going to suck. It's even more unbelievable than "Twister" or "Night of the Twisters."

In fact, it rips off "Twister" in part of it's plot:

Eighteen years ago, April and Sean Saunders watched helplessly as their parents were consumed in the wrath of a massive twister. Now April (Mimi Rogers) is a storm chaser seeking to understand every aspect of the forces that ripped her life apart... chasing the ghosts of their parents... With a massive storm system brewing, and a category defying twister looming, April must fight against an entire city unwilling to believe, as well as two decades of her own nightmares and demons, in a desperate attempt not to let this deadliest of storms finally get the best of her and her brother.

And sorry, as a storm chaser for over 20 years, and a meteorologist for the last 15 years, the whole premise is unrealistic.

Why do they make these shows?

reply

totally retard, i guess

I'm suspending belief on the meteorology part, but I'm finding it amusing that cell phones and TV are working so well while the land phone lines are down in a storm this bad.

Though it is dark . . . know your flag . . . is still there.

reply

Not quit sure about that, but at least cell phones could still be running, because their usually working through satellites in the upper space, not harmed by something like a tornado.
But your right if the land phones aren't working television usually wouldn't work as well. Actually tv is even the first thing stop running.

Compared to a lot of Syfy movies this wasn't that bad, it was actually refreshingly understated (i.e. the world wasn't going to end in a matter of seconds unless some mad brilliant renegrade is allowed to do their funky stuff).

As for the landline, well it's a newly built house I got the impression that the phone line hadn't been connected yet. And the wannabe rapist didn't tell his intended victim, because he didn't want to spook her any further, by letting her know he had deliberately taken her to a place where she couldn't call for help.

reply

I actually thought it was pretty well done. The special effects were good. Why do they make shows like these? To entertain and maybe who knows save a life? Maybe educate somebody about tornados? So what if this can't happen in Seattle, never say never, you just never know. Besides a movie is a movie. Volcano's don't erupt in LA either but it makes a great story.

This is one stupid movie. Totally predictable. I was pulling for the tornado to kill them all. If that woman said pick up one more time.... And why the hell was that kid arrested? Only a woman would like this movie.

reply

WOW.
The effects were terrible in this movie!!
Twister was waaaay more believeable than this, and the tornadoes actually looked/sounded [kinda] real!
This flick was good for a decent laugh, though. =)

Maybe educate somebody about tornados?

That's like trying to educate someone about hunting using "Open Season"

I cannot be blamed for my actions, I am a victim of sobriety.

And why the hell was that kid arrested?

...reckless endangermen
...making alcohol available to a minor
...kidnapping (once she asked to leave and he wouldn't let her)
...evading arrest (does not matter if you've commited a crime or not if the police try to asrrest you and you don't go willingly it is evading)
...assault
...attempted statutory rape

Those just off the top of my head, if I looked into it I could point out a few more.

Because most of the audience are idiots, and they are in it for the money.
