Was Amy misunderstood?

Do you think Amy was just misunderstood? When I initially watched the episode (Without knowing any of the back story) earlier this year. I thought she was 25 - 30 and Sam was 50 so thought it was merely a sugar daddy situation.

I like Amy. Being realistic she was misunderstood and Kitchen nightmares edited that way.

PS: The "I am the gangster" had me in tears of laughter.

Is that you, Amy?

reply

LOL amy sued ramsay for sexual harassement and amy&samy sued once again, blaming their restaurant loosed all their customers because of him... yeah she was totally misunderstood. gordon needed to take amy&samy to the nut house for good and adopt the poor cats.
that is what he should have done.

reply

Loosed? What kind of language is that?

reply

That wasn't even a good try Amy.

I doubt it.
She's a nasty horrible, vile, arrogant bitch.

Is she though? I've just watched this episode for the first time, I also didn't know about any backstory (the sexual harrasment that I've read above etc.). What I've got from it is that she was maybe bipolar or something. It was clear that she and Sammy don't fight (each other, they fight other people together), meaning that they stick together and generally like each other. So I assume their history is that she wanted to be a chef and Sammy wanted to make her happy, but knowing about her mental state he just wanted to keep her in the bubble where negative criticism cannot hurt her. If she has a mental disorder, I don't really see a bad guy in this story (because they've sort-of found the rhythm that works for their relationship), however, if she doesn't, then I would blame Sammy for being so distrustfull and basically "owning" Amy by only allowing her to see the world as he wants her to see it.

reply

Even if she was bipolar that is no excuse to treat customers or employees that way. I am biploar and I would NEVER treat people like that for no reason. She is just a delusional miserable woman who needs to shut up and listen for once and not try to be the Queen Bee that we all know she isn't.

There are actually people that believe her? Wow! It's blatantly obvious that she is lying to save face.

Crazy is crazy. If a random person on the street acts like Amy or Sammy, they will be shunned and ridiculed(and rightfully so). Crazy people are often homeless because they are fucking crazy and no one wants anything to do with them. That is what it comes down to: If you act like a crazy piece of shit you should expect nothing but in return, regardless of your psychological profile.

I just watched the show and have to agree that Amy wasn't "normal". She never took a breath while hurling insults, bad language and talking over people. The way she sacked Katy was despicable. Very bad management which they would deny. I thought her husband a weak individual. I am enjoying Ramsey's show, didn't think I would but in all honesty he was very fair, honest in his opinions and 98% of the time he has turned businesses around. The other 2% were people like Amy and Sammy. I have to agree unless they could handle and face the biggest shake up there was no hope for them. If that place is still going I bet its customers that go once and never return.

I don't think misunderstood, I think perhaps misrepresented...

Amy and Samy's episode was chock full of drama, and while those two were certainly the main cause, I can't help but wonder what was or wasn't set up by the producers (who knew they hit a goldmine with Amy and Samy).

The customer who sent the salad back and argued with Samy, I really feel was set up by producers to send back his food and rile Samy up to get the golden reaction we got. It was too perfect a situation that just happened to be in front of rolling cameras? I think Amy and Samy acted childishly, but I also think their episode was set up to be a portrayal of crazies from the beginning. I don't feel any sympathy for those two due to their inexcusable behavior, but I also don't believe things happened exactly the way a money/audience/ratings-motivated tv show decided to portray things.

Remember, there are always 2 sides to every story, and both sides always have their reasons for doing what they do.

reply

i believe there's 3 sides to every story. person A's side, person B's story and the truth lol

OP, you thought amy was 25-30? first time i saw it i thought 35-42. but definitely an age difference amy and sammy.

it's tv so it is possible she was edited to look worse than she really is.

reply

Both Amy and Samy have criminal records. Amy pleaded guilty to bank fraud and served time for identity theft. No, she was not misunderstood.

Earth without art is just "eh."

reply

Nope she's just a typical wack job

reply

Yes, it was edited to make her and Sammy look crazy...no surprise there for a reality TV show. But I don't think they didn't have to take too many liberties. Amy is a convicted felon for identity fraud and misuse of another person's SSN. Samy is currently subject to a deportation proceeding. Forbes did a piece on ABC to demonstrate how not to operate a business's social media account. And many of them predate Kitchen Nightmares.
