Needed a tighter script

Probably because they did combine two or three of the books.

I'm a big admirer of Spielberg's work and I was always surprised people kept ranking this as one of the greats. It has high spots and cool moments, but yes, it could've used more focus and a better script. And in between those high spots...some scenes were kind of a drag. And considering this was very expensive animation, that made it an expensive drag.
