maybe its just me but....

maybe its just me but even though i thought there was some great acting and music, i just didn't feel like the characters had any arc and i didn't feel any kind of gravity when any of them made decisions. it felt like there was a he subtext to the movie that didn't come across - maybe i have to read the book idk.

it just kind of felt like a flat line :((

But see to me that gave it that high school feel of being game for anything, what ever a turn takes you with no real plan. Someone suggests something and we went along with it just like that. No strategy at that age. When you get older and can look back on that you'll see.
Just one night in the life that will one day be memories.

I like the film and 6.6 on IMDB is about the right score. The music is great and Michael Cera can do these type of characters in his sleep and Kat Dennings is likeable.

Even though I like the gay friends/Band mates of Nick, and they were fun characters. I rather the film was just a two hander between Nick and Norah walking around New York, basically a Before Trilogy type film for high schoolers, with them trying to find that Fluffy band as they get to know one another and fall in love. Get rid of exes and even Caroline stuff. Even though you can mention Nick has broken up with Tris months before but we don't see at all. I just don't think we get enough of Norah and Nick together in the film.

I would recommend it but I'd put it in tier 3 of High School/Coming of Age films. Basically worth one watch and that's it.
