Couldn't they at least make it look like film?

It was so annoying when the projection of the movie came on and it was clearly just super imosed on a blue screen. Not only that, but the whole 'film' they were watching was painfully obviously shot on digital with bad film scratches added digitally later on. It would have been fairly inexpensive to get cheap 16mm film stock and a crappy 16 mm camera, and it would have looked 827,624 times better than the fake digital recreation of film.

I completely agree, I said the exact same thing to my wife..but I found this. THIS should have been what it looked like in the movie...

Yes and I listened to the commentary from the writer, director, and producer and they said that this movie was very low budget. You do have a point about this that would have been a heck of a lot better to watch if they had done what you suggested.
