Re Colee's wound: I thought women were banned from combat.

How could Colee get shot if female soldiers aren't allowed in combat?

I was in the Army from 1989 to 1999. I was a 19 Kilo. That's a armor crew man, a tanker.

When I was in the Army, women were allowed and were able to do every job in the Army but two job types. They were not allowed to do the 11 Bravo job and that's your front line infantry grunt. And they were not allowed to do the 19 Kilo (tanker) and 19 Delta job and that's a cav scout. Those jobs are job that are on the front line. Everything past the front of your gun barrel in enemy territory.

Now women do a lot of job that are near the front lines. Doctors, nurses, mechanics, medics, truck drivers, working in supplies and logistics. So she could have been wounded by a sniper, a IED, friendly fire, a rocket or mortar attack on the base, or even enemy soldiers slipped behind the lines and attacked they support base that she was based at.

Look at Jessica Lynch. She was a supply clerk when the truck convoy she was in made a wrong turn and was ambushed. She was wounded and taken as a prisoner or war.

And believe it on not. Sometimes being on the front line is the safest place to be. When I was in the first gulf was, I was on the front line with my tank crew. And at night, we were seeing and watching rockets and artillery shells from both sides flying over our positions. Being in the rear with the gear can be very dangerous.
