Anyone else feel differently about Rachel McAdams after this movie?

I have never been a big fan of hers, she's decent but she just never really impressed me. Her characters always seemed a bit wooden and the same. But I loved her in this movie. I thought she was adorable and I loved her personality, how she was so cute and girly, but still could hold her own for sure. She really nailed it and I have a whole new respect for her now. Anyone else?

I've had respect for her since "Red Eye" and my respect continues to grow with each movie I see her in. Can't wait for "The Vow" and Terrence Malick's untitled movie, both due in 2012.

As far as I'm concerned she's adorable in everything, but this is one of my favorites of her parts for sure. Glad it opened your eyes :P

Part of that was the writing of her character, but I did not buy her as a soldier. Her reactions were all too pronounced and obvious, to the point where it was unintentionally funny.

Couldn't agree more, she was great in this film. She also was absolutely stunning in this film. She's beefed up a bit, and more tanned, as are appropriate to this role. This is her best performance do date. She really captures the essence of a modern day female soldier, wordly and street smart is some ways, yet naive and innocent in others.

This is a very good film btw. I could have gotten political, but it didn't.

No, it just confirmed that she's a good actress.

I liked her since Mean Girls, but this one showed me a slightly different range.

If you watch Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows, you see how it misses her energy and leaves a big hole in the movie.

I was pretty "meh" about her. But, she was better than expected.

I must warn you. I'm very susceptible to flattery.

I don't know too much about her to begin with but I would definitely take away points for her performance here simply because of that quasi-Southern accent that randomly appeared and disappeared during the movie. It reminded me of those medievel films they'd watch on MST3K. In the opening scenes, there would be a major character doing a broad attempt at some kind of English accent but by the middle of the movie, he'd sound like he just walked out of the food court of an American shopping mall.

The first thing I ever saw her in was Midnight in Paris. She was horribly miscast in that one - I found her performance too strident and forced. So my initial impression of her was that she was a quite untalented lightweight. She made a much better impression on me in The Lucky Ones, so I'm withholding judgement on her overall worth as an actor till I see more of her work in the future.
