Am I the only one who didn't like this movie?

I just saw this film at TriMedia Film Festival, and I can't understand why everyone likes it so much. I get the story and I thought the basic concept was really sad, but the way they carried the story out was (in my opinion) ridiculous and over dramatic. The whole fight in the parking lot, the running away to Haiti, etc... it seemed unrealistic to me. The dialogue was the same way: much too over the top. I only cared about Wendy's character and the kid; the rest of them didn't resonate with me at all. And the biggest problem: the continuity between shots.

That's just my opinion, does anyone else agree?

Like Dandelion Dust won the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the TriMedia Film Festival. Actor Cole Hauser won the Jury Award for Best Actor.

Audiences around the world have voted LIKE DANDELION DUST as a favorite with more than 30 International Film Festival awards.

It's a serious drama for mature audiences mainly resonating with Females and Males over age 25.

bdownes, While I really enjoyed the film, and don't agree with the what the original poster was saying, I still think your view is very biased and nullified because you are one of the producers. But Barry Pepper is an incredibly underrated actor and delivered one of his finest performances. Mira Sorvino was very solid aswell. They are both great method actors/actresses.

I give the film an 8/10 (Coming from myself, a very harsh critic, an 8/10 is a VERY good rating.)

I was totally absorbed by the story and acting. I think it's better than 90 percent of the crap in theatres right now.

This film played out like it was a white, less eventful version of Losing Isiah. It's been done, and it's been done better. (Watch... Losing Isiah)!

On a personal note, I too was adopted at birth like some above poster, but that didn't make me like or unlike this film any more. It was just pure melodrama from start to beginning...even my BF who's 52 thought it was beyond boring, and he usually likes dramas.

It doesn't matter what awards a movie or the actors won, each individual viewer is entitled to their own opinion.

And your last comment about it being "for mature audiences" is incredibly condescending.

Glad someone else agrees.

You are the only person I have heard of that didn't like this movie, however, there have been several people who have said it isn't one they would go watch to make them laugh or cheer them up. I personally loved the movie because I could relate on several different levels. I am 50 years old and was adopted at birth. My husband and I also have one adopted son and two biological daughters. I can truly say I felt for all parties involved but mostly for the little boy, Joey. I know adoption is often a subject that is "taboo" and not one that very many people want to publicly discuss, much less make a movie about. I am glad to see these directors not using "kid goves" when it comes to dealing with this subject. You may feel like the characters over-dramatized the roles, but I can personally say my husband and I don't agree. We would have "acted" just like the adoptive parents did, only is wouldn't have been acting. I don't expect everyone to agree on this, but I do feel that we are very qualified to give our opinion. I hope you will consider watching this movie again sometime and try to see it through different eyes.

It's pretty obvious that most of the positive reviews on this board are posted by people associated with the film. Listen up! -- This isn't the place to hype your product. This is a place for viewers to voice their opinion of the film, not for the producers and others connected to the production to load the board with their BIAS.

I agree with mnlarned, the original poster on this thread -- this movie was poorly written, edited, directed and shot. They'll be lucky to get 10% of their money back via DVD release. It will never make it in the theaters. I'm glad I didn't waste my money to see it but watched it on a friend's computer... where he got it, I don't know... (wink).

I liked it...I'm not going to run out and buy a copy for my dvd library, but I liked it. Mira Sorvino was outstanding and the rest of the cast was good. As another poster said I really only cared about Wendy's character. I could see the ending coming about a half hour into the movie, tho, so no surprises...still a decent well made movie.

oook, it's better than your average Lifetime home movie. oh. wait....

hilarious scenes include mira sorvino pouring her husband's whiskey down the drain and him smashing the bottle. hi cliche melodrama.
