He has a pretty substantial role. He appears in the final third of the film with his actual wife, Silvia. I saw the film tonight (and met Manoel de Oliveira himself. There's a retrospective of his work at BAM Rose Cinemas in Brooklyn this month, and tonight was the opening night).
The film is very good. A bit short (only 70 minutes, very short by Manoel de Oliveira's standards), but still worth watching.

You should. It's an excellent film. Manoel was at the screening, and I met him. We didn't talk much (his English isn't very good and my Portugeuse is non-existent), but we still communicated.
