Is Caspian English now?
In Prince Caspian he had a Spanish accent or was meant to be hispanic but in this 1 he had a traditional English accent or did I miss something in the Prince Caspian film?

shareNo, you did not miss anything. This movie had a different director, and Michael Apted decided to get rid of Caspians spanish accent. From a continuity standpoint it was a disaster and I still disagree with this decision.
If we want to try to explain it logically, we can say that Caspian assimilated with the Narnian residents and took on their accent. Remember that many Telmarines took on Aslans offer to leave Narnia after it was reconquered.
oh ok, didn't think that was very wise cos I think that kind of changed his image and interrupted the cultural side of it but fair enough, if thats what the director wants lol.
shareThat was a stupid move made by the director of Dawn Treader.

A lot of the reason for the change was the amount of complaining some fans were making over the accents in the first place.
Seems like the film-makers couldn`t win either way.

No kidding.

Not at all, you only need to go to the Prince Caspian boards and read some of the old threads to see the sort of thing that was being said before VotDT was released.
From some of the comments made by Michael Apted it would seem that the film makers were to some extent aware of some of the negative opinions about the accents when in production.

Yes, in Caspian he had an accent and dark hair. Then all of a sudden he had an English accent and brown hair.
shareI am now watching Dawn Treader with the director's commentary and the director says after deciding to change his accent for continuity sake that "not one person has mentioned it". Some butt kissers. It was the first thing I noticed in the movie. I didn't even know it was caspian at first without the accent.
I don't think it would have affected continuity if only Caspian had an accent. I thought Caspians mediterranean accent was charming and added to his personality.
Everyone I know notices the accent change. Caspian is less charming without it.
... End of line.
Completely agree. Caspians accent was a huge part of his identity. What a terrible decision.
