Why were certain areas of the screen (particularly Asuka's email address) blocked out. The email is supposed to be fake so why block it out? Kinda irked me.

I just went back and looked at this part. This may be a lame answer but it almost looks like a smudge on the computer screen itself.

To me it didn't look so much like a smudge but rather a digital blurring effect.
