Good movie but maddening.

It saddens me to know that many Middle Eastern and surrounding countries have a lack of respect for their female population, young and old. And even worse females who haven't had any wrong done to them quickly turn their back on those females who have. As we see in this movie even female family members will.

I am glad the Cemal spared Meryem's life. But, she did come off as a little naïve. She was too trusting of strangers. And the fact the she literally held it all inside didn't help, not that it would have help her to tell. Okay, so the movie is ending and I find that it was her uncle. He's Disgusting and was the main one who wanted her killed. Rape your own niece and order her killed so she wouldn't be able to eventually tell. Sick.

If she told, she probably would have been labeled as a liar since her uncle (I believe it was actually her father's cousin) was a man of authority and respect in the village, and it would've brought terrible shame on Cemal, someone she admired.

I saw the movie a few days ago and really enjoyed it. I was shocked it was her uncle as well. I figured it was a guy who had a crush on her or something like that. I'm glad she had her cousin and the professor in her cousin. Her stepmom was just too evil. That was sad her dad killed his brother, but it's understandable.
