This is Paul Davis the producer and director of Beware The Moon. Please feel free to use this message board to shoot any questions my way. I check the page regularly so I will try my best to answer any queries you may have regarding the project.
I have been in contact with John during pre-production. Most fun so far without a doubt has been the 1st Assistant Director David Tringham. The guy had an hour and a halfs worth of stories to tell and they were all PURE GOLD!
Going to get some great stuff in this documentary :)
I just wanna say thanks a million for making this doc. AAWWIL is my fave horror film and one of my fave films of all time. Love the MySpace page and clips you have posted.
Have you had any contact with Rick Baker or access to any surviving FX material? I wonder if the actual hellhound still exists. That's a prop I'd kill to own.
Which tv channel will be showing the doc (I will, of course, be purchasing it as soon as possible)
John Landis is one of my movie making heroes as he's made my fave horror film and fave comedy film in Animal House. Is he really as enthusiastic and ammusing as he always seems in interviews?
Cheers and good luck with the doc.

Yup. The documentary structure is broken down into sections - which is where the on-location continuity plays its part to lead in to each unique area of the production. Sound is definitely touched upon in the discussion about Post Production and you'll be pleased to know that we DO uncover exactly HOW the howl was achieved.
John is a great guy. Full of enthisiasm and energy, and his knowledge of film knows no bounds. I got to hang with him recently for two days in London. He loves what we're doing with the documentary and was enraptured by the footage we showed him.
Ok, credit to you Paul well done my friend, thank you for giving this film the credit it so long deserves. I first saw the film back in 1982 on our first VHS machine and it embedded in my blood, it’s the reason I became a film maker and actor. Once a year on my birthday I sit and watch this film with my sons and laugh how the characters get younger as I grow older, and the film amazes every time for how ground breaking it is. I am now 32. Anyway I’ll try not to waste too much of your time. But this is my question, I own the Fangoria Magazine issue number 129 December 1993 and it has 8 pages of details and an interview with John Landis about how he got screwed with the American werewolf in London sequel, it broke my spirits all those years ago. And still to this day, no sequel has emerged (I wont affiliate American Werewolf in Paris, no way). Is there any faint possibility that a proper sequel will emerge, I know its 25 years on, but, so what. People get old that’s life, I would love to see Woodvine, Argutter, and hell why not Naughton & Dunne (probably in a state of absolute decay, mummy style) mashing it out again on the streets of London. OR is it over, has John Landis lost the rights altogether to produce a sequel. I am aching to see you doco by the way, I cant get off the damn PC, I keep checking your films status like a kid a Christmas. Like every freak fan I have written my own sequel script. Involving Alex Price as a mother to David’s son, David Jr returning to London after living in America. Only to wake the bloodline after much warning from his un-dead father (David) and good friend Jack to leave before the next full moon. Blah blah. Anyway know this movie word for word (I’m not kidding) my IMDB username “eatalotofpeople” is in reference to werewolves and my sons name is Landis (still not kidding love all of John’s work). Sorry to crap on I just got a wee bit excited when I saw your upcoming doco. If you have trouble finding the Fangoria magazine issue, it’s a wealth of knowledge, let me know I will email it to you. If I haven’t made any sense, sorry Paul it’s just the ramblings of a deranged lunatic! Just kidding. Really looking forward to your seeing your work and prey it will be released in Australia. Funny how An American werewolf in London can be an Australians favourite film. Cheers mate.
Hi Paul, thank for making a documentary on 1 of my favourite films, will all the main actors be interviewed and how will it be available, straight to DVD?!
I'll be making an announcement regarding it's release at the HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis on July 6th. The announcement will appear on our website shortly after.
i saw the photo of the hand of how they did it but how did they do the feet and did they ever film the other hand change because i never saw it thanks paul keep up the good work josh
will we see any deleated shots frrom the transformation and who was the actor who played the first wolf in the shot it just show so dead bald guy? thanks josh
ps i read they are do a transformation in the doc what did it involve was it the same to the film?
1. David Naughton is in it. As are a lot of others not listed on the cast list. The IMDB page needs updating.
2. After AWIP, I think a sequel is still slim to nil - but I don't think you'll see a remake any time soon. Universal understand that the original still has market value so can continue to milk it. This documentary has only reaffirmed that. Plus, about three different parties own different aspects of the movie. To get them all to agree I think would be a task in itself.
Ok, sounds very good :) I'm looking forward to the documentary!
When it comes to the sequel - it is a possibility. I do not think Naughton and Dunne would ever think twice of returning to shoot another Werewolf in London. And I just can't enough of the "moorlands". Do you think that Landis has ever thought of a sequel? Do you ask him that in the documentary? Imagine how many people would go watch the movie if a sequel was made.
He didn't only think of doing a sequel... he wrote a sequel in the early 90s for Polygram. It revolved around Debbie Klein getting a job in London as a literary agent all the while investigating what really happened to Jack and David. Polygram hated it however and eventually sold their half of the AWIL property to a German producer - who was the mastermind behind AWIP.
Oh, ok. Strange. The sequel would probably been good. Hopefully, he will make a real sequel soon. It would mean much more now that it would have done in early 90s.
However, I would rather see a man turning into a werewolf again than a woman. Was it supposed to be Debbie Klein who turned into a werewolf in the sequel?
Best of luck with this documentary. I absolutely love AAWIL, easily one of my top 10 films of all time & something I can just watch again & again. I cant wait to see this documentary, its going to be very hard waiting until Aug 08 to see it though :(
I was either TheTallMan or HorrorHound on SM boards I think. I ran the Horror board for a short period at the foot end of 2005. Haven't been to a UK show in a while spend most of my time in the US. Yeah, I booked Landis into the HorrorHound show in Indy, he came as a favour to me as I was showing an early cut of Beware The Moon. Was fun.
Dude your the f-ing bomb for making this. I notice the talk of sequels. Just throwing it out there I'm trying to buy the rights to this to direct it. I've already written it. And damn, it's pretty good. A lot better than An American Werewolf in Paris. Sticks to the original. Any adivice on getting this done?
If anyone wants to take a read, and give me comments good or bad on it, shoot me an email. I really want this to happen, not just a pipe-dream.
