Which Would You Prefer?

I posted this on the AWIL board as well, but I thought there might be some people on this board who don't see it on the AWIL board.

Assuming every possible/eventual project is either strongly supported by John Landis or actually worked on by him (as a writer, director, producer, or in any significant capacity), what addition to An American Werewolf In London would you prefer to see?

A proper sequel?

A prequel detailing the recent history of East Proctor?

A remake?

I think I'd prefer a prequel. Just imagine an entire movie set between the moors and the Slaughtered Lamb. That could be absolutely terrifying.

I've never heard the BBC Radio broadcast, but how widely accepted is the radio play's established back story of the citizens of East Proctor? All I've heard is that the Chess Player is also East Proctor's constable and we learn more about the werewolf who attacks David and Jack. So, were a prequel to be made, do you think it would be important to follow the back story of Talbot, the escaped mental patient/werewolf, as established in the radio play?
It could make for a cool opening sequence with an orderly at the mental hospital making her rounds and discovering Talbot is missing from his room. The bleak, white, sterility of a mental hospital could really emphasize the terror of the situation through the sheer contrast of the controlled hospital and the thought of the loose, wild, soon-to-turn-werewolf mental patient.
Talbot could escape soon after the recent full moon to give himself time to disappear without leaving a trail of blood as a werewolf, and the story could go on from there.
But with a prequel you would almost certainly have to give an explanation for the creation of the werewolf. And how do you do that without getting too silly? It's one thing to say be silly and say, "this is a movie about a werewolf." It's quite another to say, "this is a movie about a werewolf and a gypsy curse; we're not really sure how it works, so we'll make another movie about an African-tribal curse on gypsies next."

So which of the three would y’all prefer?

I'd rather it was left alone. If I had to pick I'd go with a sequel, however, I have a sinking feeling we'll see a remake before long.

Prequel - definitely.

None of them. No matter what, a modern werewolf movie will be all CGI, look like a giant, stylized cartoon, and have none of the charm or allure of films like this one.
