The woman reporter who screamed at Joe in the restaurant

Was she based on somebody specific?

The Republican Plan: repeal all reform; collect payoffs; go yachting (but not in the Gulf).

I read she was modeled on Ann Coulter.

I was thinking that he should have sued her. She was clearly out of line acting more like a jilted lover out for revenge, than someone who should be aware of the consequences of slander, defamation of character, ect. I was also thinking someone who had been an Ambassador would have better impulse control and be able to think under pressure. Maybe in real life Mr. Wilson was a mature adult like I described, and all that hoof and mouth disease was just Sean Penn shining through. Too many people use credit to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like.

If it were Sean Penn shining through, he would have punched her and sworn at her. Then knocked down a few chairs and run out.

Agree with all that. Also wondered why she didn't get sued.

She was played by Anastasia Barzee, and if you take a look at her IMDB page you'll see her as a blond who, indeed, looks very much like Ann Coulter.

Her hair was red in the film. Maybe the resemblance was a little too close.

I am listening to the commentary of the film right now. I had the same query.

(Joe and Valerie both comment throughout the film's entirety.)

As to this sequence in particular, Joe says it's "someone who purports to be a reporter." Valerie then adds "is she wearing a flag pin?" and also comments on the self- rightgeous attitude of the woman.

It may indeed be Ann Coulter, who is sadly paid much attention though her opinions are almost never based on reason or facts.

I welcome any informed opinions on this topic. I highly recommend listening to the DVD's commentary.

It is an especially good time to see this film as the USA's government gears up to to involve us in another illegal and amoral war in Syria using the same tactics illustrated in this film.
