Valerie Plame was not a covert agent. She was working the counter-proliferation desk at CIA. Before writing the article "outing" her as an agent Mr. Novak received confirmation as to her identity and position from the CIA press office, Who's Who in Washington, and Mr. Wilson himself.
ffchris, I believe you're wrong about Plame not being covert. I can find nothing in any Who's Who that indicates that she was not covert, and a veritable mountain of sources that indicate that she was covert until the article was published. Where did you get your information?
sharePlame was a covert agent at one time. Her identity was exposed by traitor and soviet/Russian agent Aldrich Ames. Upon learning this the CIA gave her a desk in counterproliferation. I got my information from transcripts of the leak investigation, interviews given by those involed and transcripts of the senate hearings on the matter. Bill Harlow of the CIA press office confirmed her identity to Novak. According to Novak he sourced the article through the CIA. The name Valerie Plame was listed as Joseph C Wilson IV's spouse in that years Who's Who in Washington.

Why, you ask, were they not hanged? because while Americans claim to protect their country from threats "both foreign and domestic" it would seem that throughout history their traitorous and corrupt politicians belonged to neither of these groups. While a terrorist's bomb can kill dozens, a politician's signature can kill thousands and yet the first one gets issued a 'shoot on sight' warrant while the other gets a fine and a couple of years in prison. This in the most democratic country in the world!
shareHmmm, because you are stupid? The constitution specifically sets the threshold of proof for treason extremely high for historical reasons. Almost nobody gets convicted of treason in the United States for this historical reason.
