Harvard... or nothin at all!

The husband in this movie... why did he act like he HAD to go to Harvard and ONLY Harvard? He made a big deal about not being in college. He could have easily taken classes part time (or even online) at a local community college, yet he acted like Harvard was the only college ever. "Oh I didn't get into Harvard, I guess my life is ruined and I can't go to college," seemed to be his mentality.

I think it was more that he was sticking to their plan to go to Harvard and so he was just going to work for the year and then get in

Yeah, that part made zero sense. There are TONS of colleges in the Boston area. He couldn't have had Boston College, Boston U., Northeastern, etc. as a backup plan? Eh, it's Lifetime. My wife forced me to watch it, I swear...

Right? He could have taken classes at UMASS for a year then transferred to BC, BU, Emerson, etc. Then they would still be living together. I also love how at the end of the movie he's reapplying to Harvard to see if he'll get in again. Uh, dude? They didn't let you in the first time and for the past year what have you been up to? Taking harder classes? Interning in a field you want to study? Oh, no, you've been working in construction. Yeah, I'm sure Harvard will see that and totally want to let you in.

And his whole ordeal about "You're trying to change me! Maybe I don't want to go to college!" No. You wanting to go to freaking Harvard! You're the one who changed yourself, buddy.

What we got here is an unsatisfying situation.

perhaps he wanted to be a nonfailure.
