Hated this movie(spoiler heavy)

I hated this movie. I cannot shake the fact that everything that happens is the main characters fault but yet he wants to be a hero?

First off, saving a girl from a fire doesn't feel like it would make him as famous as it did. I see the main character as the bad guy even more so than those who were the actual bad guys in the movie. It's his fault the bank woman gets shot and therefore he goes to kill the others? How does that solve anything? And by withholding the information that it was his idea all along until halfway through the movie makes it even more ridiculous.

He's killing everyone who knew? And why did his garbage collector friend suddenly feel a need to die?

Am I just grasping for thin air or did someone else see it this way too? That he is all to blame?
