Not that Rat Race and Boat Trip (oh my god Roselyn Sanchez!) wasn't bad, just that I get tired of seeing Cuba wasted in corny comedy roles. This guy is an amazing and underrated actor, especially playing dramatic roles. I thought this movie was pretty good and felt that it could have done well on the big screen. I gave it a high 7 (rounded to 8) rating. Lots a great tense moments throughout.
I agree 100%. I've avoided movies with Cuba Gooding Jr in the past, but in this movie he shows he's quite an actor.

shareI agree that Cuba Gooding Jr. is probably better in dramatic roles, only I wouldn't really classify this as a dramatic role since it's a simple straight to DVD action flick with not that much acting going on at all, and I didn't think Gooding Jr. was very convincing as an action hero. I'm still puzzled why he ends up playing in these Steven Seagal-like flicks these days while he was giving great performances in Oscar-worthy movies only a couple of years ago. He's still not that old and should try to get some more serious work again, there are people more suited to play in these straight to DVD action flicks than him.
