I grew up there, but unfortunately it's replete with people from the 3rd world now. During my recent stay there, I was shocked to see so many illegal aliens there--you know the day laborers.

Yes, and it's getting worse. Between the illegals in their uninsured cars with North Carolina plates, and the sudden, huge influx of Russians from Brighton Beach, Staten Island has become an even bigger joke than it used to be, and a lousy place to live. A few years ago, we just had to live down being the Idiot Goomba capital of the world. You know the type, the ones who watch The Sopranos as a documentary.
I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.
