I live on Staten Island

Does anyone know if this movie is actually going to be filmed on Staten Island? And do you think it will actually be about something other than getting off the Island?

Yeah Its filmed in Staten Island

reply

They filmed on my block too. it wa so dumb why the hell would you want to make a movie about stsen island? Anyone wh lives here knows that it sucks & there is nothing to do.

reply

Well im sure with 500,000 people and certsin history and crticism of the island we live on that a great movie can be made. Yeah living on the island sucks, but who knows what a movie can show us.

reply

I live in Tottenville and there were about 5-6 trailers parked on Hylan Blvd between Page and Bedell by SS Little League, yesterday and again this morning. Someone said the name of the movie is Staten Island. Guess they were filming around the neighborhood.

reply

I wonder if they're going to show how monosyllabic, vain and materialistic they are over there. If you've never heard a guy from S.I. talk they sound like a broken muffler "DO DO DO DO DO DO, now wha mean" F'N guidos, and the girls with their bad hair, tans and awful faces where they look 15 years older than what they are.

reply

I live on Howton Avenue in great kills off of giffords lane

they filmed here today since 5AM

There is so much more then that. Living on the island is pretty horrible, but I feel that it does have many nice, respectable people.

I'm a native Staten Islander who escaped years ago. You know what gives us Staten Islanders an even worse reputation? Poor grammar!

I'm proud of my SI roots and the education I received but please people, give a little care to what you're writing. Ciao!

reply

I not sure I understand, everyone who is complaining about living in Staten Island, is someone forcing you to live there? Especially if you know it's a crappy place to live, yet you move there anyway. If you can't afford to live anywhere else or can't afford to move, than you have only yourself to blame. You see I live in Jacksonville Florida and there are places I wouldn't live here either, but I've taken the steps in my life required to make sure I don't have to live in a ----hole. Next time you want to complain about where you live, look in the mirror, that's who you need to complain too.

reply

Finally someone says something decent. I grew up on Staten Island also, and it does not consist only of guidos and girls with orange skin. People once bad mouthed brooklyn, and now look at it.
One random bit of trivia that has nothing to do with this: Martin Scorsese's brother lives on Staten Island, I believe in Great Kills.

reply

People still badmouth brooklyn... actually people badmouth it now more then they ever did and for good reason...

Brooklyn is like a combination of the worst parts of staten island and Manhattan.

reply

Never heard that about Marty's brother. I'm in Great Kills.

The phone is dead. Do you hear that, Vitus? Even the phone is dead.

reply

definitely agree. most people from si tech would change one's mind about the borough.

They were filming up the street from me in tottenville, staten island. They used the water supply from our house so the locations manager gave us full access to the set. Ethan hawk was there, we met him, and went inside the house they were filming in. They were also filming a chase sequence outside the house. Was very interesting to see. Ethan is also a really nice guy to talk to.

reply

Did you happen to see Vince??

It's NOT your fault...you were BORN that way!!

You're a real jerk. I guess political correctness is only restricted to "protected minorities." Seems as though Italian-Americans are always fair game, of which I am one. Try ranting about Jews, blacks or Hispanics and see how fast your post will be taken down. Not all Italian-Americans are cavones.

reply

[deleted]

Looks like the post was deleted. I don't know anything about "cavones," or what the word even means, but I never knew that there was any bad sentiment toward Italians or Italian-Americans. I'm African-American, and see people posting B.S. on IMDB all the time. Some of it gets deleted, some doesn't (usually, only when it's blatant). Anyways, personally, I love Italians (people, culture, food) - and have never had a problem. I had the opportunity of visiting Little Italy in NYC, and loved every minute of it. Can't wait to go back.

Re: the movie - I enjoyed it. Vincent is one of my favorite actors.

i got a quick question

is staten island actually part of NEW YORK CITY...i know it belongs to new york the state and is geographically close to the big apple, but sometimes i hear it is actually a section of the famous NEW YORK CITY...is this true?

Jean Claude Van Damme Im fine!

reply

Yes Staten Island is part of New York City. Most people know that the city consists of 5 boroughs but they never can name them; Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, AND Staten Island. Thats why its known as the forgotten borough.

Staten Island is one of the most steriotyped areas in the northeast. The guito-type is not the majority on the island and most of them are not even from the island, they moved here from Brooklyn.

reply

That forgotten boro B.S. is decades old nonsense... Its no longer a forgotten boro, and hasn't been in years.... Hell it gets more representation in movies/tv shows, etc then Queens and the Bronx do...

So yea.. it aint the forgotten boro no more.

reply

I live on staten island too, and yes, it is being filmed here. They shot a scene with Ethan Hawke in what looked like a gas station suit and he was running. It was being shot by South Avenue and Forest Avenue, around there. My friend saw him, but was never able to get an autograph from him.

reply

People have to stop ripping on staten island, I know there is no shortage of guidos there but it is an overhyped stereotype. I myself was born there but lived my whole life in New Jersey, but having had plenty of cousins and the fact I work for my dad now,on hylan blvd(allstate), i have spent plenty of time on the island and have to say staten island is full of some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

P.S. Nunzios rules

reply

wow. i cant believe they are filming a movie in staten island. i used to live there years ago. 1988-95. i grew up as a teenager there. i didnt like it there at all but it brings back memories. i havnt bin to NY since 97 so im sure alot has changed there. the last school i attended was curtis high. talk about memory lane.

reply

I momentarily visited there just for the purpose of saying I had been to all five boroughs, and the ride on the ferry was fun.If you're ever over there and hungry, check out a restaurant called Karl's Klipper-the apple caramel pie is the bomb!

reply

Nunzio's is, in fact, the best pizza.

staten island *beep* BLOWS!!!!

the only way to get into SI is to pay a toll. $10 Rd-Trip from Brooklyn, $8 1-Way from Jersey, and i think $6 1-Way from Manhattan.

It smells. If you thin kit does not smell its bc you are used to it. It does smell.

There is nothing going on in SI. There is a Mall, and 3 movies theaters. Thats all. I heard once there was a bowling alley but I couldnt find it.

but most importantly, its full of crazy people (prob due to the dumps.) My Grandparents live there. Theyre Crazy. My aunt lives there (crazy). My cousin just moved there and she feels like shes going crazy, and is moving back to brooklyn soon after she has her baby. AND 3 of my ex girlfriends live there and they are all crazy, along with their *beep* families, and *beep* friends.

Who wanted to make a movie about SI? DeMonaco, who prob got high and got laid for the first time in S.I. and loves it there for some reason. lame.

i keep seeing all these complaints. yeesh, you'd think there would be benefits to living in a safe, comfortable, suburban-esque place, and still be considered part of NYC...

reply

Depends on what you mean by the industry. Alot of famous people have lived in Staten Idol ... dating back to Eenry David Thoreuah... and loads of current and past NY sports stars still do.

I mean Paul Newman and Martin Sheen lived in St. George.. Christina Aguilera was born here, Allysa Milano grew up here.... etc etc

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_Staten_Island

Did you know that Ichabod Crane is buried on Staten Island (yes he was a real person... buried in Sunrise or Sunset cemetary, whichever its called) and that
Between the time of 1929 to 1931 Stapleton had their own NFL Pro Football Team, the Staten Island Stapletons.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah I grew up there as well. It's a beautiful place, although the people aren't too nice. I sorta liked it, although really glad i live in the city now...

reply
