you know what? The first half of it was pretty good

I rented this the other day because I thought it would be nice to have a movie in the house I could watch eitherf with my husband with my daughter, all of us or even by myself. They bailed on me so i had a few beers and watched it by myself.

I must admit for the first half I quite enjoyed myself. Then around the time the pills get mixed up the movie gets too goofy-silly and never quite bounces back.

It must be hard to make movies that appeal to kids AND adults and that would explain the silly middle and end. I think they felt they had to goof it up to appeal to kids.

Anyone agree? Or disagree?

In the first half, Robin Williams gets a spray on tan that makes him like a different ethnicity. In fact, he attracts the attention of Hispanic and Indian people at Grand Central Station, who apparently mistake his ethnicity. And that's a good scene? Why not just put him blackface and get it over with?

Then, his ex-wife tells him she has a secret formula to get rid of the tan--and in the next scene, which is moments later at Central Park, it's already gone. How did he get rid of his ethno-tan in a Grand Central Station bathroom? How does a scene like this appear in a movie that is "pretty good"?

I didn't make it through the first half. Travolta over acting, clichés everywhere, poor script. I really felt for Robin Williams. One of the most talented comic actors of a generation reduced to this mind-numbing excuse for a film.

Loved it..very good parts like Dan (Williams) getting trapped, and burned, in the sauna shower, thus creating a BIG burn(?)/rash(?), Jenna (Rita Wilson) getting her FINGERS caught in the car (with a comical use of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons early, top-selling classic "BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY"-props to the music folks for that!), and the kids playing with the pills, thus accidentally mismedicating both Charlie (Travolta) AND Dan into a crazy, hallugenic (SP?) golf scene..KIDS. NEVER. EVER play with medicine..:) and the later running gag with Seth Green and that gorilla.
