Get your hired posters out of imdb Disney!

This board is just rediculous. This movie is absouletly terrible and it should be known. Don't let the same four people posting in every thread convince you to make up your own mind and waste money on this garbage.

reply

You are so arrogant to make such a statement. This movie is an enjoyable funny movie for the whole family. If you didn't like it, than good for you. You don't tell others what to do. Let them make up their own minds.

reply

hawk182 is one of the paid posters. They all use the same phrases: "funny movie for the whole family" Obviously written by an ad writer. "don't tell others what to do" - criticizing the critics to distract from the fact that this movie is garbage.

reply

You're an ass -joep-5. No one hired me to say that

I have not seen this movie yet, but it looked funny. And I dont think disney hired any posters for imdb, you know why? Becasue they dont care what a bunch of stuck up film snobs think!!! This movie looks funny, and I cant wait to go see it this weekend.

"stuck up film snobs"

LOL, are you sure you're talking about imdb.com? Everything's relative, I suppose, but still.

I don't work for a studio either and I thought this was a very good family comedy. I went with my wife to see it at the drive-in tonight and we both laughed our asses off. This is saying a lot for me, considering I usually don't like family comedies. I decided I wanted to see it because Robin Williams is one of my favorite comedians and John Travolta is great as well. Yes, it's a Disney comedy, but it does have a few adult jokes. It was definitely not a waste of money and I give it a 7/10 for the type of movie that it is.

P.S. Oh and freddy827, learn to spell! The words are spelled "ridiculous" and "absolutely". If you want people to take you seriously, you should at least spell check your post, so you don't seem like an uneducated moron!

"Let them make up their own minds."

I think what you really mean is: Let them spend their money first, then make up their own minds.

Saw the movie tonight. It was hilarious.

I hated it, it was my lowest rated film of the year. There was me in the theater, the friend who i went to see it with, someone sitting alone, and a couple in the row behind us. We were annoyed by how bad the film was (pay attention to the music  ) but the chick behind us kept laughing, in particular at the gorilla sequence and every time the dog whined. Painfully bad in my opinion. Her laughs seemed sincere, but I can not imagine that the type of person who likes these jokes will also defend it ferociously on the imdb boards. But then again, if I would be paid to spread opinions, even if they opposed my own, I would still do it!

reply

What is the music roll?

I took my wife and two kids to this movie tonight and we enjoyed it. It was fast paced enough, was quite funny for what it was and was an enjoyable movie for my family. Great movie, no, but I liked it.

This movie was bad, but i laughed alot. Just because you hate a movie doesn't mean everyone should.

Most people enjoy any kind of humor, some even like cartoons. If you have a different sense of humor (or none at all) then don't complain here.

Its a great movie, not exactly the stuff to set the world alight, but it made me and the wife laugh and left a nice smile on our faces, definetly worth a 7

reply

Well this movie was full of cliches but i still laughed very hard at the medicine confusion with the joker smile. I can't say this movie is life changing or deep but it made me laugh at some points and it relaxed me. I didn't know it was made by Disney, how the heck did they get John Travolta and Robin Williams? As for hired posters i think it is possible, i have been seeing a lot of the same kind of comments in all disney films, things like "fun for everyone" or "a movie for the whole family", but i'm not sure.

reply

I have no doubts Disney has hired people to praise their products, just as other corporations have, also in other fields than movies. Remember the fake journalists that the Bush regime had put up to create 'news', which then were even broadcast on American TV as genuine news? I call that criminal! But here, well, it is just Disney and its terrible, brainkilling movie products.

But well, as long as people get convinced these are really honest opinions by movie buffs, I think it is a problem. But let's face it, there will be no way any customers' protection group will ever get a law installed that would force the hired writers to put a disclaimer under their posts. It just won't happen. Just like the TV networks never announced their 'news' footage was delivered by the Bush regime itself.

We have the same problem in Germany on many commentary boards. Certain topics are always pushed and drawn into certain directions, by certain people.

A word to Disney: I will never buy anything associated with you or your name, and had the movie not be a freebie, I would not have seen it. Well, I still think I made a mistake by watching it yesterday, because I lost thousands of braincells during those 2 hours. Hiring people for praising your stupid products does not make you or your products look better.

No, I am not paid by anyone, not even asked by anyone to write here. It really is my honest, personal, private opinion. Call it my arrogance, if you must, I don't deny being that, as in my culture that is not a flaw.

I'm watching it right now. Made it to 18 mins before checking IMDB to see if it was worth continuing. Looks like IMDB saved an hour of my life that I wouldnt have got back!

reply

Hey, freddy827, I'm not working now, how can I get on Disney's payroll? Can you tell me? No? Then how can you be so sure that hawk182 is a paid poster? Out of curiosity, I looked at his posting history, and hawk's been posting now for a couple of years or so; also to note, hawk had only posted on the "Old Dogs" board twice before responding to your initial accusatory post. It's obvious to me that he likes Travolta and Williams and thinks Laughlin and Preston are a couple of hotties. You, on the other hand, have one post. One. This one. I think YOU'RE the paid poster. I'm not sure who has anything to gain by hiring you to diss Disney's movie or reputation, so I'm not going to follow your example other than to point my finger only at you. Well, I take that back...I'm also pointing at joep-5. joep-5 also has only one post, the one on this thread. Remember him? He's the one who thinks that "funny movie for the whole family" is so original that it must have been thought up by a professional ad writer. Coasterkid345, perhaps you'd benefit from pulling your head out of Final Destination 5 and take a logic class. You want to talk about clues? Here's a clue: if hawk is a paid plant, then he is not a "representative" of Disney. Disney wouldn't want anyone to assume any kind of association with him. It wouldn't matter how foul his language may get, therefore, mild language does not equal Disney employee. Do you see how this works? Representatives represent. Paid plants don't. You see? It's really quite simple. Run along now, I'm sure I hear your mom calling you.

reply

But, let's be honest, the movie is bad really really bad. It seems like too much money invested in everything but in good jokes.

reply

After reading alot of negative reviews from reviewers, I decided to see the movie and decide for myself whether it was good or bad. So I sat down with my wife and five kids for a family night in, and boy oh boy, did we ever have a good time! Laughs a minute - this movie delivers it! And no foul language to offend wholesome god-fearing folk like us - this is a family movie. What happens in the movie is Robin Williams - who will all know is a comic genius because . . . well because he has been in movies for almost 30 years now - yeah, that's it. So Robin Williams had two children with a woman he had a drunken one-night stand with ten years ago and has played no role in their lives ever since. In this family movie. Then, when she shows up out of nowhere to serve a jail sentence, she leaves the kids with Robin Williams for two weeks. Then the fun begins. First, the mother's friend gets her hand slammed in a car trunk!! That had us all cracking up. But then later in the hospital . . . she tries to dial her cell phone with her hand all bandaged up! (I know - could you imagine the laughs!!) Then two Japanese guys who talk funny like "Ah soooo" - they get hit in the testicles with golf balls!!! So hilarious. Well no need to explain the whole movie accept to say that people need to liten up and not take things so seriously. Movies are meant to entertain. So what if this movie isn't so intellectual that it's, like, a Oscar winner or something. It's just like funny stuff to make you forget for a little while how Republican policies continually ass-rape middle class families like ours and we in middle America vote for Republicans over and over again anyway because we are too oblivious to understand that basic fact.

reply

I could only stomach about 1/2-3/4 of this movie, it was just horribly predictable. I mean c'mon, you could see the setup of the "JOKE" from a mile away. it's like *SPOILER*.........when robin's in the tanning booth, and the chick was talking to John. Geez, NOTHING could happen THERE!!! Or the whole talking about the pills, and being organized by the day, oh man, I couldn't tell that SOMETHING was going to happen with THOSE!!! C'mon guys, it's one of those "and hilarity ensues" kind of movies.
