I think her character was fleshed out more and def had more emotional moments.. actually.. she was in the 2 emotional parts of the movie!

I agree with that. To me, I really didn't like Sa5m as much...I kept wanted to say her name as sasm as in like...orgasm or something idk. I felt like she was moody and depressed for no frickin reason other than to be "edgy." Halfway through I whispered to my friend I bet she plays an instrument too and she's gonna join the band. Yeah try finding many skilled female guitarists in a high school - and just 'cause she played acoustic in the vid will saw of her doesn't mean she can just play electric! like wtf. anyway, Charlotte annoyed me a little with that too 'cause first she played guitar and then o yeah she can also play piano! Those little things bugged me.

I also thought Charlotte was a better written character. Not to mention Aly's performance was a lot more naturalistic.
Still, I was certain I'd hate Vanessa's role, but I ended up quite liking her... so, yeah.
me too. but that maybe because vanessa hudgens is a fckin idiot who dint knw how to act. but yea aly michalka's charcater was more explained. still, i read somewhere van sought inspiration for her charcater frm the addam's family's wednesday. stupid talentless @*%#!

oliviera vanessa is actually quite a good actress. she has gotten rave reviews in this film. you seem to have alot of anger towards her...
shareCharlotte's character is more fleshed out AND has the one thing Sam's does not:
A character arc.
Sam is the person who she is at the beginning of the film all the way to the end. Sure, she lightens up and finally sings... But so what?
Charlotte actually CHANGES who she is (was) as a person from the start of the movie to the end.
You can see why Allyson chose this role and why I hope she was Todd's first choice for Charlotte (versus Sam; the film just would not work the other way, IMO).
I didn't see the whole movie but I thought Charlotte was at least a person. Sa5m never did anything to make me like her.
shareSimply because Sa5m's not showing any emotions except anger. She's a monotone, guys. And she had lesser screentime. She was only there to save the band after Charlotte left. And was Will's love interest too.

I <3 Vanessa and Aly, but if i had to choose, it would be Sa5m, i felt Charlottes character was overplayed, if you had to meet these characters in real life, Charlotte's wouldn't even give you a 2nd look. But i've met plenty of quirky people who resemble Sa5m's character in real life, but very, very few like Charlotte...
And i think Vanessa is smoking hot, so my opinion may be a tad biased :)
