Was it 'Political Correctness' that changed Liz and Sally.

In the original comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko Liz Allen was a blonde and her best friend Sally Avril was a brunette and possibly Latin.

Liz starts off as stuck up and rude to Peter but comes around eventually while Sally remains incorrigible.

In the TV series its the same pattern except Liz and Sally are ethnically reversed.
Was it to be 'PC' and not offend the Latin viewers by making the girl who wises up be the Latin and make the incorrigible one an easily targeted blonde?

The show changed many of the characters ethnicity.

Heres all of them minus the two you mentioned.

*Molten Man was changed from Caucasian to Latin
*Ned Leeds was changed from Caucasian to Asian
*Debra Whitman was changed from Caucasian to African American
*Kenny Mcfarlane was changed from African American to Samoan
*Roderick Kingsley was changed from Caucasian to African American
*Fancy Dan was changed from Caucasian to African American

See nothing wrong w/making the cast more ethically diverse.

Nothing wrong with ethnic mixing.

I'm just saying that originally Liz was blonde and Sally brunette.

I'm just saying notice how they let the visible minority girl wise up in her behaviour while dooming the Caucasian to eternal nastiness.

Well the show already had two nice Caucasian girls in Maryjane and Gwen. So they probably needed a mean one and Sally was it.
