Kind of strange...


That they had the actor playing Bahta stop the movie a few times and pretend to complain to the director! It was obviously staged, but you know what? Despite that, he was a very believable starring actor and altogether it was a really good movie.

Grade: B+.

I would've liked the movie a lot more had they not broken the 4th wall (and for no apparent reason). I didn't like it when Ingmar Bergman did it and I didn't like this time, especially given the serious subject matter.

the reason why those scenes are in the movie is because in tunisia you must always keep your mouth shut about two things: Politics (domestic) and religion (islam). the irony is that tunisia's firt amandment in it's constitution says that tunisia is a democratic country, Islam is it's religion and arabiic is it's language.
