rewatching Greek

I'm rewatching Greek after 3 years,

I'm at season 1, where the parents the visit.. and in my mind I always remembered Evan being the bad guy and Cappie being the best

Now I feel that, yes Casey became more likeable ( she was awful in the pilot, just awful!)
But what's more interesting is the freshman greek ball, (when Cappie saw Casey with Evan) , yes they did a horrible thing to Cappie, but it was actually Evan who saw her first, and Cappie was being an *beep* I'm not saying that they did a good thing, with Evan being his best friend and all, but it's not actually "Black and White"

I actually kind of like Evan now, and don't see him as all bad...

I know this is going to sound corny, especially coming from a grown man, but I re-watch all the seasons of Greek about once every year to year and a half (generally starting in the early to middle of the summer when there are virtually no shows that I like are airing). I own all the seasons on DVD :P there is something about this show that brings me back to my college days. Greek aired the summer before my Sophmore year, so my college experience was happening pretty much at the same speed as the show. I was also in a frat (average joe type) and did end up in a love triangle... thankfully got out of that mess. there is something about Greek that keeps drawing me back, even though the show is the Hollywood-ized and whimiscal verzion of college... I still keep getting drawn back.

Maybe in a few years they will do a 10 year reunion or something?

The first go around I hate Evan, the second go around I started liking him. However, I am in Cappie's camp.

I just rewatched the pilot last night, and one thing that stood out to me was it appeared Ashleigh had an eating disorder. Ashleigh and Casey were at Dobblers and Ashleigh was munching on some chips, and Casey made a comment about rush starting the next day, and Ashleigh dropped the chip she was holding and said she had to go to the bathroom. The next day she was talking to someone else in ZBZ about removing a stain and the girl asked what the stain was, and Ashleigh embarrassingly said yogurt and the girl said "ew" (which I think means we are supposed to assume it isn't yogurt) and threw it and it landed on Rusty who said he would not want that on his head, which makes me think it was throwup. I don't think they ever explored this (maybe they meant to be scraped it) but maybe they did and I don't remember.

When I re-watched the pilot a few weeks ago, I noticed the same thing. I didn't remember them talking about it ever again but I feel like it could have been a good plot to explore, like Casey and her other friends helping her to overcome it or something.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm talking about the part in the first episode where they are at Dobbler's and Ashley stops eating the chips to "go to the bathroom."

This is my signature.

Yes even I noticed it the second time around, but they just ignored it

This is gross but I always assumed it was semen, actually. It can kind of have the color/consistency of yogurt. The reaction of the other girl just doesn't quite fit the stain being vomit. And I don't think Ash would have been embarrassed to admit she threw up, people would just assume she was drunk. And Pilot episodes always have continuity errors, since they're shot so far in advance than the rest of the season, so there's a good chance Travis didn't exist yet and she hooked up with some random dude.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? No. A summer's day is not a bitch.

I always thought it was supposed to be semen! I could've been wrong of course but that was always what I thought too!

'You people. If there isn't a movie about it, it's not worth knowing, is it?'

reply

It was definitely supposed to be semen, not vomit.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

reply

So you wouldn't be grossed out by touching a vomit stained shirt? Lol okay

I didn't mind Casey but I never loved her character, she had her moments where I did quite like her but I always just found her a bit too selfish and quite self-righteous about everything which really annoyed me!

Evan has always been one of my favourite characters, I just think there's a lot more depth to his character and a lot more layers! He has his moments where can be a d*** but then so does everyone else and sometimes Cappie is just as bad! I also like the fact that although he acts quite serious and sophisticated a lot of the time, he seems to have quite a dorky sense of humour and is actually a bit awkward!

Anyway, I've always felt like I'm kind of in the minority of that opinion!

The show premiered at the beginning of my freshmen year of high school, and being the ABC Family-oriented teenager that I was, I immediately became an avid fan and followed it until the bitter finale end, funny enough, airing during my first semester of freshmen year of college. I haven't returned to the series since it ended, but over the weekend I started rewatching it on Netflix and it's almost as if I'm watching it for the first time. It's strange how your perspective shifts so dramatically based on your age; the first time around I was probably a little out of the demo, where now I'm in the twilight of my college years and appropriating Greek into my nostalgia of my last 4 years away at school. So many references flew over my head the first time around, and now I'm looking back and loving how well written the show is and how thorough the writers were with incorporating all the elements of being at a University. It was an anomally of a show for a network like ABC Family, wish they'd revert back to this and forgo the BS teen dramas.
