The Evan Chambers vs Rusty Cartwright feud

Did anyone start to root for Evan more as the series progressed as opposed to Rusty? Obviously, we all rooted for Rusty because he was pissed at Evan cheating on his sister in the 1st season. However, during the 3rd season, Rusty calls Evan a preppy jack*** for no reason, and threw the relationship with Rebecca in his face (when they had broken up, and he was sad about it). Rusty was asking to get punched. Also, Evan helping Rusty with his wire thing, which he didn't have to do at all, considering he also wasn't speaking to his parents for a year (even with Calvin's advice to help Rusty out with that). I just felt Evan was at least trying to be civil with Rusty as the series progressed (at least until Evan got even by hitting him with the paddle), but Rusty was always still acting mean towards him. Casey had forgiven Evan for everything he did, so I don't understand why Rusty couldn't (it does seem like they did though during the final two episodes of the series). It just seemed to me that because Cappie (and Beaver) and Evan weren't on good terms for the majority of their time at CRU, that Rusty felt he shouldn't be either.

I started a re-watch of the show a couple of months ago. I just got to Rusty's second year recently and was thinking the same thing.

This is my signature.

When my sister was hurt by this guy in high school I never got over seeing my sister in pain because of that jerk. It's been more than 15 years and I still don't like the guy. I think it had more to do with people hurting the ones you love. Rusty was just being protective of his sister. I feel like Casey "forgave" people too easily. I would never had stayed with a guy who cheated on me but she went on with Evan. I also felt like Evan really needed to taught a lesson because he always had such an attitude of self entitlement that really rubbed me the wrong way. I was so happy when Casey tells Evan that he always hated Rusty because he saw the truth about him right away. It's true Cappie and Casey's opinion of Evan was always tainted by their old friendship. Even when they "hated" him they loved the old Evan that they were friends with years older.

Nope still rooting for Rusty!! Evan was a jerk not only to his sister but to him many of times. (for the record I do like Evan when it doesn't involve Casey storylines)

Same! Rusty for the win. Plus, Rusty not liking Evan because of his relationship with Casey is like the Omega Chi and Kappa Tau feud. No one knows when it started, but the houses are programmed not to like each other.
And I agree. When it came to Casey, Evan was a total jackass, but otherwise, he was cool.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

Never. I was always on Rusty's side. He had all the reason in the world to dislike Evan. And considering the fact that the only real reason Evan dislikes Rusty is because he couldn't be bought off, just makes Evan look worse.

I've been re-watching the series too, and I like both Rusty and Evan.
Both have their failures and both have their nice sides.
Evan may have cheated on Casey in the start but I just watched an episode in season three where Rusty played with Dana and Kathryn's feelings at the same time. That's not nice either.
