I think Elis loved Nadie as a lover but she probably didn't understand what love was, while Nadie loved Elis too but she was quite introvert.

Although I wouldn't have minded seeing a kiss between Ellis and Nadie at the last episode... leaving it open-ended like that is okay too. Better chance for a second season right? (yeah one can only wish...)
