Berlin Meteor scenario
Why did the father stop running at the stair case at the train station?

shareI think a more important question is: why in the hell did that kid just leave his dad to die? I mean, jeez, he went up the stairs, through a crowd, onto a train, picked a seat, and took off...all without looking back for his father once. Lol!
shareIt is a kid and frankly I've seen kids get over the most intense things without blinking an eye. It is un-nerving don't you think?
Merovingian Goddess
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!
Maybe if the kid's autistic. Lol.
Personally, I don't think I've ever met a kid that was THAT comfortable just abandoning their parent. Usually some sort of worry would set in the moment the train started moving; the realization that they're now very alone is usually frightening. I suppose it's possible, but from a cinematic storytelling scenario, it's very unrealistic.
I suppose only Gareth Edwards knows the real motivation behind that kid's character. :P

The oddest thing to me was that, even though this was 2005, the father had no cell phone. If he had, he and the mother could have talked and agreed on a meeting point. Instead, she just packs the car and drives off to ... where? How would know exactly where to meet her husband and child in a huge city like Berlin? Or was she just getting out of Dodge on her own, and to hell with hubby and kid? Like mother like son, I guess.
Also, in the virus scenario - the most likely of all the events, scarily enough - didn't it seem odd that the daughter didn't have a key to her mother's house? Don't most adult children have keys to their parents' house and vice versa? Especially if they live in the same city.
