So selfish of her to tell him she was pregnant before the game

She knew it was the game of his life, that could have made his future. Yes, she hesitated when he pressed her for information, but she really just should have made something up about failing a math test or something and just let him play his game. And then after the game, she could have told him she was pregnant.

If he had gotten a basketball scholarship, he could have gone to college and still been with her to raise the baby together. It would have been much harder at first but better in the long run. Even if basketball didn't pan out, with a college education he would have been much better able to get a good job and provide for his family in the long run.

She really should have just not said anything. It just ended up blowing up his entire future.

This is how I feel too. She should've waited until he played. While it was his choice to go after her (what he felt was right), there's no way he could've given his all to the game. He lost his chance at a scholarship. Like you said, he could've gone to college and been better equipped to take care of Scar and the baby.

Yes, you're right. They needed this for the story but it was lazy writing.

the movie is just too poorly written to be any good, despite the good performances (yes, even from Effron)

they just used the cheapest tricks in the book to create conflict and drama

so many movies, so little time

She wanted to wait until aftet the game but he insisted to know.

I agree. She should've waited after and if she felt she couldn't pretend until after the game, then she shouldn't have gone to the game.

If he was good enough to get recruited to Ohio State, he could have just gone to some school that would pay him under the table. UNLV? Auburn? Heck even USC had a bag man at one time.

Only in movie world does one damn game make the difference between getting a scholarship and working as a Janitor. If a D1 school is seriously scouting you, D2's and 3's will be kicking down your door, and one bad game out of your entire high school career won't change that.

That made me angry and dislike her. Just wait till the end. But she showed up with her sad face to ruin his big night. And even if he pressed - she should have say: "Nothing has happened" and walk away to her seat. He would forget about that moment once the game started.

And I missed where were they working that they had such big nice house to live in? Like they werent poor or anything. He had some small job at the office and could afford himself good house.

And its funny how they were about going to custody of kids. When he missed the divorce meeting and her lawyer said something about : "We should go to sole custody then" .

Its like arent kids 17 and 16? Daughter will be 18 in a year. Son in 2 years. They are not 10 years old kids.
