1. Did they ever decide to unseal the tomb even after this production got so much popularity?
2. If they decided to do the testing to prove that mary was not related to jesus, then why didn't they do any tests to see if the other tombs were actually related to him? Or did they? and i missed it......
I'm wondering about the first one myself, but I'm guessing it's such a hot potato no scholar wants to touch it, and the IAA will probably only want high-profile scholars involved in any further investigations. If I had Cameron's money, I'd buy the apartment building, then get the local IAA resident and as many other people as possible to move, then attempt to resume investigation. I haven't read the book yet and just saw the documentary, but the inscription they saw on the wall has me very curious as to what it actually says. I'd also want to buy/rent/lease the apartment with the "spirit pipe" and use robotic cameras to see if there were any inscriptions or other evidence that could tie the unopened tomb in with the suspected Jesus tomb.
If my memory serves correctly, they were only able to get bone/human remain fragments from two ossuaries. I'm not sure what the point would be though of other testing. It's a family tomb, so everyone inside should be related by blood or marriage.
Someone should know where the actual bones are buried. Now that would make for some interesting DNA testing.
Not to mention, if biblical accounts are true then the leg bones of Jesus were broken while he was on the cross. Plus potentially there would be other marks from nailing to the cross. All the more reason people need to start taking the possibly seriously. Exhume the remains.
