All There Was to This Was Two Hot Girls

... in my opinion.

Hoult also was upstaged or outclassed by the guy playing his brother. The man jes cain't act.

Two hot girls?? Yout thought Alice was at the same level as Gail??

Agree with you about Hoult though. He has one of those impish, cocky faces and he always sounds so wooden. So far's he's just played irritating, cocky pricks (About a Boy and Skins) in his career and this programme was no exception!

Aww I thought he was really good. But then, the fact that he's gorgeous might have affected my opinion a bit ;). Seriously though, some of the scenes he did reduced me to tears, I thought he was fantastic.

I dunno... It was a very good drama and all that, but it wasn't particularly heart-rending or anything. What it did well was make me feel sorry for Ben for part of it, and then sorry for David as well.

The whole thing though kinda' felt like it had been made for teenagers, almost a more explicit version of the kind of Grange Hill / Byker Grove fayre. Hoult's acting was quite good I suppose but I just don't find him a very charismatic actor. Think it's 'cos of that spoilt, mischievous public school boy look he always has about him!

The "spoilt, mischievous public school boy look he always has about him" is why I like him! And as for it being made for teenagers, I am a teenager, so you know, that could be why I liked it so much. I watched it with my parents and they didn't seem too bothered about it, while I was sitting in the corner crying my eyes out.

No way man! Nicholas Hoult rocks, and I think he's a very good actor. Most people his age tend to overact, but he doesn't. Plus, he had the most funky eyebrows ever! he could make a whole movie starring only his eyebrows.

Well, *beep* me gently with a chainsaw

reply

Haha- Yeah Nick Hoult was SUPERB. You can't say you don't like him or his acting just because you're jealous of his looks. Gorgeous or not though, he was very convincing in this role- you're all just being stubborn.

This movie is showing on TV1 in NZ right now and have to say am loving it. The only thing is when Nick Hoult does his monologues I keep replaying it over in my head with his 'About a Boy' voice! I think the guy who plays Ben is pretty good too, although I wonder how much of him is acting and how much is actually him?

Have to say though, the nurse that was treating Ben was completely unprofessional, leaving David alone in the room with Ben after he'd just accused him of trying to kill him!! (Sorry, I'm a nurse and notice this sort of random stuff....)

I had been wondering what Nick Hoult had been doing since About a Boy. I wonder if this 'Skins' will ever make it to NZ?
