My little brother has Downs, and sometimes he does drive me CRAZY! He's so naughty and really strong, so he can hurt you. But i would never dream of pushing him off a cliff lol i really identified with this in other ways though. Anyone else??

I have an autistic brother. He annoys me so much because he has a very sexist attitude and badly misunderstands when people are actually being sarcastic or spiteful. I could never push him off a cliff, telling him when he's wrong is bad enough.
shareyeah, my older sister has downs. I really identfied with the characher also, some of the scenes hit home so hard i was crying but other scenes reminded me of all the cheeky things my siser does and made me giggle. I think David's charater was abit extreme, but also very real in ways. I would never dream of harming my sister, shes just too precious. But i do understand the feeling of negelect from my parents and the feeling of that extra resonsibilty on my shoulders, it doesnt help the fact that my parents are seperated so i've got to play mum in a way, when i'm with my dad. I've never spoken to someone else that has a downs sibling before. I've always just got on with life without talking about my feelings towards my sister, thats why i was so excited to watch this programme when i heard it was being made, it was the first time i had ever seen someone else in my position and acting the out some of the feelings i get(obviously except the fact he actualy wanted to kill Ben).lol.
I think there should be more awarness for downsyndrome and family members.
So yes, i suppose i'm in the same boat as you!

I identified with David in the way that he felt Ben got all the attention, except my brother isn't really old enough yet. However I couldn't help feeling SO sorry for Ben at times, he was so sweet. But yeah annoying as well.

Yes I have a daughter with downs and she can be very difficult to deal with but we love her loads of course. I think it is quite realistic regarding siblings as i find with my children but I think it is possibly because my daughter has such extra needs she gets away with stuff and things like that...
