Is this show really sad to watch?

It's adapted from a novel and several short stories by Elizabeth Gaskell, so of course there will be multiple deaths occurring within the narrative. But over all, it's a sweet, beautiful story with many endearing moments.

To me it has a perfect balance of emotions. As the previous commenter says, it's a story of people's lives and that will always have both sad and happy moments. I don't like really sad movies and I adore this one so my vote is a charming, sometimes bittersweet story.

Watch Tess first and then this will seem like a comedy in comparison.
