How will this succeed, after BvS?

Sure all the fan boys will still have to go see it, but won't the general public stay away in droves? Even if it gets better reviews, it has an uphill battle against the bad will WB has created.

It wont. As long as Zack Snyder is the director the movie it is doomed to fail. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman dawn of justice were both lackluster films.

MoS 600 million BvS 900 million SS 800 million, I'm not sure you know what failure is

Depends on what your idea of failure is. If you mean did they succeed financially well yes. However critically all of the DCU has been a disaster. Also Batman v Superman may have made a lot of money but that was nowhere near what the studio expected to make. They wanted that film to get well over the billion dollar mark.

More importantly, the purpose of BvS was to get people excited about the DCEU and the launch of Justice League. Right now I think more people would be excited about Justice League if NOBODY ever saw BvS. I was certainly more excited for JL before I sat through BvS. Yes, it was a huge failure.

I knew after Man of Steel to expect the worse for BVS. Man of Steel was a dreary, dull, lifeless film which was just a rehash of Donner's Superman. I always say Man of Steel is basically as if Batman Begins, Superman 1978, and Superman 2 were put into a blender.

Man of Steel is almost a borderline remake of Superman 1 and 2 just take away Lex Luthor. All they really did was change the tone as well as some other minor things. Superman 1978 was fun, uplifting and cheese in a good way. While it was cheese it still had great heartfelt dramatic magical moments. Man of Steel goes for a serious more grounded realistic tone. Instead of uplifting and cheese like Donner's it is dreary lifeless and dull.

I am not saying Man of Steel needed to be like Donner's Superman in terms of tone but making Superman that serious is a mistake. Studios assumed well it worked for Batman therefore they adopted the one size fits all mentality. It works for Batman because Batman is a dark brooding character. Captain America the Winter Soldier is a better Superman movie than Man of Steel is. Captain America is a similar character to Superman. The difference is though even though Winter Soldier was somewhat grounded for the MCU it still was fun and enjoyable.

BVS was even worse than Man of Steel though. I personally thought Batman should have been laid to rest for a while. We got a rather solid trilogy. I am a huge Batman fan but I wanted at least a decade before I saw him back on the big screen again. Now he is back in the gutters oh well.

first paragraph contradicts itself.

If we look at the box office take, both DCEU movies this year not only surpassed Man of Steel 3 years ago, but also most other superhero movies in the last few years. BvS has also gotten a lot of people excited for more Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck's Batman.

reply

It wont...they already destroyed the novelty by putting wonder woman batman and superman in one film without the others

reply

You mean like Jar Jar Binks destroyed the novelty of Star Wars?

reply

Star wars isn't as novelty dependent as superhero films usually are

reply

Also star wars had a incredible fanbase and marketing campaign...fanbase is pissed at dc to the point where more discussion is put on "HOW DO WE FIX THIS"!!! Than star wars which is "I want this movie and this movie and I can't wait for the next movie"

reply

Also depends on Wonder Woman.

Clearly people are interested in seeing these movies and want them to be good.

Fact of the matter is, people can still form their own opinions. I didn't necessarily love Suicide Squad, but my theater LOVED it. They actually made the experience more fun for me.I was mentally prepared for both BvS and Suicide Squad to suck thanks to critics, but then I walked out of both enjoying them. BvS is actually way better to me than critics made it out to be, I've watched it 3 times now. The Ultimate Edition improved the film in the areas where I had the most problems.

At some point, the DC movies will be better. They just didn't have the right footing at the beginning. I'll always stand by that Man of Steel is a pretty great movie. BvS simply crammed in too much, and SS should have been saved for a later time. If Wonder Woman is good, people will be there for Justice League. And hopefully that gets positive word of mouth as well so that it can be a true success.

reply

It's not ruined at all. DCEU isn't going anywhere. Zack Snyder, like Joss Whedon, won't stay.

reply

I think no matter how JL is received this is the last time we'll see Zack in 'the chair' for a DCEU film. I could see him hanging around as an exec producer on at least some titles but nothing more.

All for a box of chocolates...

No it will be fine. Its has nothing but great vibes and only the 1oo Marvel tards who are afraid are the ones typing lame stuff on internet message boards about stuff they don't know.

I think many are hoping it is a great success....and it will be. DC rules all.
Every common fan person with lives who don't waste their time on here....knows DC is life.

Bad will.......meh.......all opinion.

Who really wants this to fail? why?
You fear what you are afraid of.......Americans are all about uneducated fear of the truth.

If the movie is more liked than Man of Steel by both critics and audiences (as well as the Wonder Woman), it has a chance to keep going on.
If worse or it's practically the same, they will still get a ton of money and they'll still continue. It's unintentionally being critically bad, but highly successful.

Doesn't stop the Transformers films

looking at their box office performances and the viciousness of the fanbase this is gonna drop like a rock
