Alfred Russel Wallace Film

I always thought that a movie about Alfred Russel Wallace would be at least as interesting as one about Darwin. Consider:

1. His Amazon River collecting trip with Bates
2. The ship bringing him back from Brazil catching fire/sinking, Wallace surviving in a life boat
3. His travels in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, including writing up his own theory of natural selection and correspondence with Darwin while suffering from malarial fever.
4. Holding a wager with a madman who claimed that the Earth was flat, and subsequently being threatened and stalked by the flat Earth madman.
5. His obsession with ouija boards and "spiritualism" in old age.

Add to that Wallace's interesting status as an outsider from a working-class family who was never quite taken seriously by Victorian elite academics, and you have great potential for a biopic.

There's a book about Alfred Russel Wallace by Michael Shermer called In Darwin's Shadow. Haven't read it though.
