Is this game worth it?

I'm new to Tomb Raider. I always thought things about Tomb Raider that all the other "non-TR" fans say. Then, for some reason, I wanted Legend. It was fun, but not too hard or long. I liked the game. I recently got TR:Anniversary for my birthday, and I'm stuck on the final level of Greece, in the water-area with the pressure plates.

But I digress. I borrowed the TRU demo from my friend, and I beat it, it was not too-challenging, but it was harder than TRL, and the combat against the tigers was pretty tough. The only problem I had was the terrible camera, and the fact that my friend kept calling Lara Croft a slut. What a son of a -----!

So I just wanted to know if this was a good game, or, worth buying, because that review does not make the game seem very enticing.

The game is awesome but, it's only worth it if your a Tomb Raider fan.

Yeah, I'm definitely a Tomb Raider fan, but I'd only buy it if it was good, so I take it that it's an okay game?

reply

Yes, but I think Tomb Raider: Anniversary is better.

Okay, thanks.

It'll probably be more worth it once it goes down in price. Catch up on other installments in the mean time!

Why are you asking US if its worth keeping? didn you say you beat the game? you should decide based on your own judgement. if youre a TR fan, it wouldnt hurt to keep it in your possession, however if it was just a come-along game then don't buy it.

reply

No, I said I beat the demo. I just got the game two days ago, though. I haven't played much, and I have problems with the game, but nothing you guys haven't heard yet.

I own this game on both the PS3 and XB360.

It is worth it if your a TR fan from the start. As it is closer to what TR is about than Legend. I thought that with AOD they nearly killed the series. And with Legend, even though it is better than AOD it still isn't perfect. It is a long way from perfect. Then came Anniversary and it was a step in the right direction in my eyes. Almost back to the way I liked TR. THEN along came Underworld and I was very pleased with this game. It is TR back to what TR is good at.

Right we know it's not Core Design who did Underworld, we know so shut up those who bitch about Core Design losing out on TR. They had three years to make a game. THREE YEARS!!!. And what did we get for waiting that length of time and the loyalty shown from us gamers? we got CRAP in software form. They obviously knew what they wanted but didn't have the skill to pull it off. TR AOD was broken on so many levels it just wasn't funny. I almost burst a vein through rage when playing that damn game. NO GAME like TR should take anymore than two years TOPS.

Underworld sets right what went wrong from AOD up till Anniversary.

I can only hope that those working on the new TR game don't cock this next one up. TR was almost ruined when the series tried to be different with AOD and then on Legend it wasn't perfect either but better than AOD. Now that they are starting to get back on track with Underworld, I heard this next one will be yet another reboot to the series AGAIN!. Two reboots didn't work (AOD and Legend) so the whores are going to risk the series again by rebooting for a *beep* third time. Underworld is a good formula just make it last a tad longer and your there where you need to be. Stop rebooting this damn series!.

Yeah, I got the game in July, I think. Still haven't beat it, not too interested. Some things are kind of cool, but I feel the gameplay rather uninteresting and the camera/physics engine to be very annoying. I don't like the combat, either. On the other hand, the graphics are quite good, as is the level design, I suppose (merely from an architectural standpoint). As far as the actual levels go it's a lot of retreading. The story's pretty decent, though, and I'm wondering exactly how everything will unfold. Still disappointed with Lara's design, but I shouldn't be surprised or anything.

I liked Legend quite a bit, actually. It was much easier than the other TRs, but I liked the chemistry Lara, Zip, and Alister had.

That was the biggest annoyance of Legend for me, the whole Alister and Zip thing. Then they go and kill of Alister in Underworld and keep the loud mouthed annoying Zip alive this pissed me off. Zip should have got it first or instead of Alister.

Meh, I liked both of them, but to each their own. I was surprised that they redesigned the characters, though. You'd think they'd be fine with the way Alister and Zip looked.

The ''Reboot'' you talking about is about the Tomb Raider game in 2012? I agree, the story was really good with Underworld, I just wished I had played Legend first so I could have seen the story developed to Underworld. I hope they eventually make a game continuing form Underworld

Most definitely! I loved both Anniversary and Legend, which I played on PS2, but recently I finally gave in and bought this game for PS3 and it's just as solid as the first two. What's with the disappointing reviews? It's just like the others. The gameplay's fun and exciting, graphics are great, lots of puzzles, Keeley rocks it as Lara again, and it's just, overall, a fun game to play. I'll agree with some of the reviews that the camera angles can be slightly annoying in areas, but that's my only problem with it so far. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend it.

Oh, and I will say it definitely feels more adventure-y than the first two games. There's less shooting enemies and more puzzle solving/climbing and stuff, so if you are a shoot-a-holic, then don't buy this one.
