'Double' Dragon

That ride is not called Double Dragon, it's called Dueling Dragons. I would know because I will in Orlando and I been on it a million times. Did they call it Double Dragon for some reason or are they just stupid?

reply

I think copyright reasons. At the end of the movie they blur out the words Universal on the cheer competition banner in the background.

Holy cricket! You're Harry Potter! And.... you are?

reply

but thats dosent make sense since universal pictures made the movie

reply

Technically the coaster belongs to the manufacturer like the name. SO they probably didn't want any legal issues.

reply

When they blurred out the words Universal, they missed a bunch of shots. If you look, sometimes, the spinning globe in the background says universal and other times it's blurred and same thing with the banners. Sometimes, they're blurred and other times, it clearly says Universal.

reply

Lol, yea I noticed that too. But I love that ride. Last time I was there in 2004, it wasn't crowded at all, and I rode each of those coasters 8 times in a row lol. Yea.... good times.

they do that in films to make the places fictional.

1)look at "house on haunted hill" the biggst example of a rollercoaster B.S.!!
the coaster that starts the movie is called "terror" and has geophery rush walking acorss the marvel bridge into marvel island then towards the incredible hulk then later at the top of the launch tube saying "here's where the fun really begins!". when its plainly obvious the coaster is universal studios incredible hulk in orlando and the fact that nobody is allowed at the top of the incline while the ride is in motion no duh and its obvious he was infront of a green screen during that line!!!.

2)national lampoons vication six flags magic mountain became wally world

3)beverly hills cop 3 six flags became a diffrent park and it merged with universal hollywood and incorperated rides from both parks

4) in it to win it merged islands of adventure with univeral studio's orlando
this movie upset me a lot cause i work at universal and i know every location stage 70 where the flamingos are practiceing is actually E.T. the ride! they walk into la bamba's a restraunt at universal orlando which is no where near IOA's lost contenant (like totally in the opposite direction and atleast 2 miles away!!) yet there they are walking into la bamba and out of the building next to dueling dragons which is actually a store... and every practiceing scene and and camp shot was someplace around hard rock hotel

This drove me crazy, they called it Universal Orlando and still changed the name of Dueling Dragons. We were there a few days while they were filming, that's the only way I could get my husband to watch this with me.
We were dizzy the way the would change from a place that was at least a mile if not more away. Still it was pretty cool to see Universal and IOA in a movie, that's like our home away from home.

reply

no they said it to make a sexual joke..and btw they only blurred out universal b/c on abc family b/c it's owned by disney..

reply

Okay, it is NOT owned by disney. I don't know where you got that crazy idea from.

reply

Actually yes it is. Disney is the parent company of ABC.

reply

I agree, "double dragon" sounds more sexual than the real name. Don't think it had to do with copyright stuff.

reply

In order to call it by its actual name, Dueling Dragons, the would have to buy the actual roller coaster. And seeing as its worth over 200 million dollars, I don't think they wanted it THAT bad. And I live in Orlando and have also been on it a million times. =)

Lol I think this is the saddest thread I have ever read - what does it matter!!!!!!!

of all the names they could think of, why did they choose Double Dragon? isn't Double Dragon the name for one of the most famous arcade games from the 80's (as well as the original name for Jackie Chan's Twin Dragons movie?)

reply

Double Dragon is a known videogame from the 80ies. Maybe they wanted to bring in some nerd humor...
