How do Star Wars and Galaxy Wars BOTH exist?

Carly had mentioned that Sam's stomach sounds like Chewbacca, and Sam once told Freddie not to sound like Darth Vader. In both iCarly and Drake & Josh, Galaxy Wars has a huge fanbase and seems to be taken seriously and not a parody of Star Wars within Dan Schneider's universe. So how do both exist and have huge fanbases if they are essentially the same?

How do Star Wars and Star Trek both exist in our world? There can be more than one big, popular, sci fi space adventure franchise.

Star Wars and Star Trek are vastly different from each other though. Star Wars and Galaxy Wars both contain what appear to be lightsabers and Jedi-like characters.

No reason to believe two similar movie franchises can't be popular. Think of allllll the gangster movies that have been hits. Heck, think of all the superhero movies... hell, there's more than one Batman trilogy that have been big hits. More than one vampire romance that has been popular. iCarly just exists in a world where sci fi is a little more mainstream, that's not far-fetched. More than one movie with swords made of light isn't much different from having more than one movie with regular swords, or dragons.

This is one of the things I can't defend Dan on. It's plain and simply bad writing. He obviously wanted to do with Galaxy Wars what he did with things like Pear, but he he still uses Star Wars. Also it's not like us having Star Wars and Star Trek. Galaxy is 100% Star Wars, just look at the iCarly episode where Spencer waits for Nug Nug or the Drake and Josh episode where they crash the party. The characters are Star Wars characters.

Then how do we have Transformers & Transmorphers? Don't act like derivative movies don't exist in our world, too.

And I don't remember Nug Nug in Star Wars. He looked a lot more like a Star Trek character.

Well...maybe in their world Galaxy Wars is like an updated version of Star Wars?

OR it could be that Galaxy Wars is an obvious rip-off but still manages to have a cult following.

I think you guys are looking too much into it. It simply was just lazy/forgetful writing like Iamcage said.

Nickelodeon does that so they don't get sued. Why else do you think its pear instead of apple...

Whats my favourite episode of Breaking Bad you ask?
The one where Jesse says Bitch.

reply

I'm saying that both Star Wars and Galaxy Wars are mentioned in the show, which is really weird.

My favorite episode of Breaking Bad is the one where Walt only thinks about himself.

reply

I also like the one where Walt Jr. eats breakfast. Oh, and don't forget the one where Hank tries to be funny, thats a good one!

That never occurred to me until you pointed it out! Now that I've thought it through, I think the writers were trying to be more practical than logical. Here's what I mean:

Everybody immediately understands references to Chewbacca and Darth Vader because everybody knows them from Star Wars.

No one would understand had they used unfamiliar characters from Galaxy Wars. And even if they came up with perfect knockoff names that should be obvious, I suspect they were afraid too many people still wouldn't get it.

Of course I don't really know, but I do suspect they thought it through or already knew from experience how to get the point across to the most people in the least time for what it was worth.

Question: What do you think would be good knockoff names for Chewbacca and Darth Vader? Spaceballs, for example, used Barf and Dark Helmet.
