Sam's character only works if she has SOME redeemable qualities. But since she doesn't, it not only makes it unrealistic that she has any friends, but she becomes TOTALLY unlikeable. And when she is so unlikeable, the things she does are not funny. They are just annoying.

He could have at least written her as someone who likes to make fun of Freddy but still had an "Us vs. Them" attitude to come to his aid when someone else was being mean to him. But other than when she quit the Pear Store after he go fired, it never happened. So viewers have to ask themselves why Freddy stuck around.

And Carly was not much better. She was very unlikeable too with how she treated Spencer, which was also unrealistic. Especially in iLook Alike.
