Naomi is a nasty, selfish woman

I'm only about halfway through season four right now, but I really can't stand Naomi. She makes everything about her and treats the people she loves like *beep* while punishing them for every mistake they make.

Not speaking to Maya for her entire pregnancy, telling Addison falling in love with Sam was unforgivable, then kissing him while he was dating her and completely ignoring Addison's hurt, saying her relationship with Sam trumps Addison's...

Why is anyone friends with this woman? She only ever thinks of herself.

reply

Agreed. Naomi is a selfish *beep* - I never came close to liking her.

I don't like her ether, i think Sam deserves better than her!

I actually like Naomi, not speaking to her daughter while pregnant was wrong but she was there in the end and some people just don't handle stress well. Its Addison that I cannot stand.

Ok, not to defend Naomi because she wasn't my favorite character but to be fair:

1.) the relationship between sam and addison was totally inappropriate and wrong, it broke the code or rule that you don't date a friend's ex, let alone a best friend's ex. come on, now. someone once said something like if you do dirt then you get dirt in return or something but basically yeah they weren't saints so should addy have been surprised?
2.) you're judging naomi based on how she handled two difficult and totally unforeseen events/situations that she was truly blindsided by and upset about

If you want to criticize her character, maybe at times, I would say that the way she treated people sometimes was bothersome
like maybe Dell
I can't remember the specific examples but even there she totally more than made up for it by basically adopting his daughter

I'm rewatching and totally agree. I think she's condescending, self-righteous, unforgiving, and at times lacks compassion.

I mean, abandoning Maya during her pregnancy when she was probably so scared and in need of her mother is pretty despicable. Not to mention selfish. I think she did it because she felt too guilty to face it, like she felt it was a result of her own bad parenting, but when your kid's in trouble you suck it up because it's not about you anymore. That's not the only example, but after that I couldn't look at her character with any sympathy.

I absolutely agree. I found her to be condescending and rude and selfish. I also thought the same of violet. After the Katie attack I REALLY couldn't stand her character anymore. When her character was gone for a few episodes, I was hoping she was gone for good.
