I don't hate the AU series because he's sick. I hate the AU series because it is poorly directed, written, acted, produced, edited, etc. I'd say a good 45 minutes could be shaved off any of these movies. All 3 are exceptionally bad movies. Even though it is done with no budget on a home camcorder it should still be possible to generate even the smallest amount of tension, suspense, or emotion, which the series consistently fails to do.
The violent scenes should come off as brutal, demented, and realistic, but they just come off as childish. The only interesting one in the whole series was the guy having sex with the dead girl in the bathtub with maggots everywhere, but that was so ridiculous I had to laugh instead of being disturbed.
To give a small amount of credit to Vogel, the hammer blows and intestines being ripped from stomachs do look realistic and well done.
I honestly don't understand why so many people enjoy this series.

there's a theory of motivation you hear about in psychology 101 called 'arousal theory:' people pursue an optimal level of arousal. not too bored, not too excited. people watch horror films, in part, for the increase in arousal. after watching a million horror movies, the regular stuff doesn't excite anymore. which is where AU comes in. it provides arousal, even though it's not really enjoyable. I felt rather uncomfortable while watching the films rather than cheerful and happy--not profoundly distraught, just uncomfortable.
which, i guess, contradicts your first point. to which i reply: wtf, guys? if you don't think the idea of giggling over a decapitated infant is demented, that's your fault. "childish" or not (LOL, pun!), convincing or not, the basic modern sensibilities dictate that decapitating an infant is a brutal, demented thing to do! what's wrong with YOU guys? it is sick! end of discussion!

Exactly xparasoulx. These movies sucked not because they were sick (which they kinda wernt, imo at least, Ive seen worse) but because they were so backyard grandmas basement lame.

These movies aren't cinematic masterpieces. They aren't even good movies. The value of extreme violence only serves so much to protect the entertainment value of a film. Without the basic components of film making (acting, directing, writing, cinematography) you can't make a film. That's why AU falls into the category of anti-films. This isn't a mind stimulating romp through a world of suffering, it's mere coffin fodder for those who wish to immerse themselves in carnage.
Unlike other films, such as Salo or Irreversible, where the violence is presented in an educated manner (It is used as a tool to convey a message against sexual violence), the AU films give off the impression that a couple of guys watched Hostel and said "Dude, lets make a movie thats like, waaaay more violent than this!", and then proceeded to do so. So they don't know how to make a movie at all- it's ok. At least they know how to make a collection of horrific scenes pulled from an early Cannibal Corpse album and defend it by saying "look at (insert ACTUAL MOVIE that contains explicit violence). It's violent."

the day these movies are considered good is the day I should stop watching movies. THESE MOVIES "use it loosely" are low budget garbage.. watch only out of curiosity. Not even sick in the least. Whats sick is the following these worthless movies have..

Not sick? So headless babies in bins is normal in your lifestyle? I dunno, I think the rape of a 6 year old's corpse is pretty *beep* sick. The tearing of a unborn fetus from the womb of a pregnant woman to me is pretty sick.
I'm not new to horror, horror and violent movies are what I do. I review them for fun on a blog and the chances of me watching a non horror movie is pretty low. So not a lot is new to me, however, some things in the AU trilogy were new. And the effects are very realistic.
I think some people just love to hate things. Especially when their reasoning for not liking something is because it's low budget. Exactly how much money do you think all directors start with? You think Spielberg always had a budget of infinity because Hollywood big wigs gave it to him?

In my opinion this movie is so amateurish its hard to take it seriously. Animal organs for effects do not make a sick movie. In comparison to anything by Marian Dora these movies are ginger beer.
The budget really has no bearing on whether I liked these movie. These movies are simply not good. Period point blank.
Once again Im sorry my opinion struck a nerve but this particular movie penance is the absolute bottom of the series. I actually dig mordum but not the other two.
