Why make this when Darkon exists

Basically wondering why someone would spend time and money on this film when it's the second out on a very similar subject in a very limited market - docs about D&D nerds. What I saw was OK but absolutely nothing special, so I'm wondering if this was made prior and shelved or what. You may notice that when 2 films of a similar them come out the second typically is less successful than the first, and that does not leave much when it comes to the small crowd that cares about this subject. I know I would not greenlight a movie about a guy eating Taco Bell for a month after super size mke came out, let alone be second in line on the topic of live action role playing.

the movie Big with Tom Hanks came out as the 4th movie in a span of like 6 months where the main character either becomes old or becomes young - switches bodies so to speak - and Big was far and away the most successful of all four.

*shrugging* It's a different bunch of people playing a different game in a different part of the country. Both NERO and Darkon are sword-and-sorcery LARPs...but that's about where the similarity ends.

"Magician, sailor, adventurer...been there, done that."
