cruel, daring, unsettling

What a dark and uncompromising film! At first it seemed to be a painfully awkward black comedy, almost like a lo-fi Todd Solondz movie, but it ended up becoming really intense and sinister -- the last half-hour was downright hellish. I don't think it's a film that's meant to be "enjoyed" or even "liked" (sometimes art is supposed to be bleak and upsetting), but I don't think I'm going to forget it any time soon!
