Koji Mamas of Columbia... (SPOILER ALERT)
I have to give props to Rob Schneider for making this movie and introducing to the world the Koji Mamas of Columbia. That's who they were really describing but the indigenous tribe was given a different name in the movie. I have read about them and there is something very powerfully metaphysical mystical and magical about them. I'm not quite sure what Rob Schneider was trying to say with this movie but it was an interesting journey anyway. I'm just happy with the way that he portrayed the indigenous people in this movie. They really do look like that. And they have a way of assimilating you instead of you assimilating them. I'm guessing this project must have been deeply personal to Rob Schneider since making this type of movie is very tricky to pull off. It had a certain unfinished quality about it which is unfortunate since I really wanted to see where the story was really going. Rob Schneider was the Chosen One to return a nest that had been taken away from a Hawk on a New York rooftop which had significant spiritual ramifications for the indigenous people. As beautiful as I find that to be, it seemed a bit underdeveloped as far as movie land is concerned. It needed to be just a little bit more complete. I don't mean that to be too harsh of a criticism because over all I really like the movie as a whole. The cinematography was good. The editing was good. But the picture quality was horrible. It looked like a really bad bootleg. And I rented it on Blue-Ray. If you can get past that, it is worth a viewing, especially if indigenous shamanism is a topic of interest. I would really love to see what Rob would do with this movie if he had more resources to complete it.
