Gripes and questions.... *SPOILERS*

I'll start this off by saying this movie is beautiful and has some really great design and action. Unfortunately it suffers from the same problems, almost all anime does in my opinion. The plot is stupid and the characters are worthless caricatures of tropes.

Where to start? I think one of the biggest things that bugs me is that: In the end, when the bald guy finds out that the head boss is Human, he gets mad and kills him. Wasn't the whole point of turning them into androids to be able to control them? But he clearly shows severe free will. If that's the case, then how come it's such a big deal to completely turn into an android?

Also, was it explained why they had to fly THROUGH the tunnels? I see no reason why they couldn't just climb on top. Then they could plan it more methodically and do it whenever they wanted. If the answer is like security drones and turrets or whatever, why would there have been none inside at all in the first place? If these tunnels are so secure on the outside, then why not make them equally secure on the inside? It's not like they didn't have spare robots, or rocket launchers or machine guns...

I guess I get why the "chairman" let the worms into the city, so they could go through that tunnel, but couldn't they just as easily have put their resources together to get a message to the US or whoever, who promptly would have bombed the *beep* out of the Daiwa base?

Also, why were the worms able to come in through the city in the first place? Weren't all of the tunnels disconnected for an earthquake? Or just the one they went through? And in that case, weren't the tunnels disconnected at BOTH ends, meaning the worms would have had to jump at the entrance as well?

Why didn't the all knowing evil corporation just crush the rebels? They clearly knew they were rebels, and had no politically reason to just kill them. "Soon you will see. They will all turn over to our side eventually." or some such... A silly point just to add some weak plot.

So why was the US able to get a pinpoint video feed of Vexille on the run, and the "Japanese robot surveillance, Big Brother" system had no idea where she was? If they KNEW there were no real Humans, wouldn't it have been pretty easy for them to find her?

Another thing, how is the bike chase early on not like a political disaster? Like I must have missed something, but I just see a guy start riding away on a bike, and the 2 "cops" start chasing him, not really knowing who he is? Then 2 securobots chase them, and try to murder them for not falling back. Then THEY just destroy the securobots...

When infiltrating Japan, SWORD like swims off one boat and sneaks onto another that has there freaking suits on it! And there's this giant hubbub about scanners and what not that apparently didn't catch any of them on the ship. Why did they even bother sneaking on? Why not just be there in the first place? And if the suits somehow stop the sensors from seeing them, why not just fly or swim in alone?

Most of the rest of my complaints are just "bad acting", cliched plot and characters I could care less about. "Oh no, my whole squad is dead except somehow miraculously my main love interest!" Didn't see that coming! Did the others even have names?

Everything you've mentioned is basically a plot hole. I've got a few more.

When the president calls the SWORD captain, he tells him to "stand down". And he does. WHAT?! They've just discovered an entire country has been reshaped into a evil robot factory. Isn't that a good reason to mobilize an army?

When the rebels first appear on their buggies, they open the city gates and get in before the worms. The same gates that belongs to the same wall that belongs to the same evil corporation against which they're rebelling! And later when the gates open, the entire corporate HQ is like "WE'VE GOT A BREACH!", but when three bikers come back from gathering supplies to support the rebellion, then it's open gates/close gates, like they've got a remote for them. It's not like they're stealthy, there's a single entrance into the city and it's 100 metres tall.

The worms. How the hell do they work? If metal could spontaneously assemble itself into burrowing monsters, we'd be having a bit of a problem with all our scrapyards now, wouldn't we? And how the hell does floating scrap metal burrow into solid rock? Japan isn't a dune sea exactly.

Lets see.

1: He explains that a select few will have free will. Like his henchman. The elite would retain their wills.

2: Personal guess is that it was as simple as being seen coming across on top or by water by simple visual monitoring. Also could be they did have surveillance inside. Note the doors close and kill some of the resistance force. So its possible they whole thing was rigged.

But more importantly. Going across the top would risk the Jags falling off. They arent exactly very smart or co-ordinated.

3: I believe they let the Jags into the town to kill themselves and deny the villain his labrats.

4: They were at first reluctant to die. Then the resistance fighters courage decided them all to end it and help out the last way they could and even if it failed theyd be denying the villain his test subjects.

5: At a guess. Part of his plan and several were advanced test subjects. Also he had them pretty well corralled and, well, the villain was nuts and overconfident.

6: The US had a satellite and Japan didnt? Looked like they had no air presence at all other than those helicopters?

7: Political rivalry and Japan used the incident to pressure getting the body back before SWORD could examine it.

8: This one perplexed me too. What the hell was all that about?

Personal guess is that there was some sort of loading scan at the docks or, wherever where the suits were snuck in Id guess as mislabled cargo? And then they used the explosion to sneak in and get in the suits which somehow masked their signatures?

Another possibility is that they were detected and the villains just let them through.

Who knows. It made no sense and feels like maybee something was missing to explain the why and how of it.

9: The captain did. Not sure about the others.
